I'll end up doing what I always do and whatever party I vote for governor, I'll vote the opposite party for senate. Gridlock's the best choice we have. That said, the GOP might as well let the Democrats take back congress, because that would increase their odds of keeping the white house in 2008. (We saw the same effect with Clinton after 1994) And I've got a feeling the Democrats are going to do something completely different and nominate somebody for president in 2008 that isn't a complete spineless moron like Mondale, Dukakis, Gore or Kerry. They're well overdue for a candidate that doesn't suck.

They want to impeach Bush over the totally mislabelled "domestic spying" story. Other than that, they seemingly have no reason for wanting power back.

Funny how they never complained about one-party rule back then. It was their follies that led to the voters electing the GOP to run both houses in 1994 and the Democrats non-stop whineathon hasn't stopped since.

Gawd I hope so. I'm registering as a Dem for the '08 election because I have the suspicion that their primary will be more important. If they nominate Hilary, Kerry, or someone of the like, I'll be switching parties very quickly and devoting my life to Republicanism. If they nominate a Bill Richardson or Mark Warner (as I plan to do), then my very limited faith in American politics will be at least temporarily renewed.

One cannot look at a poll that says "voters approve of whomever for Congress this year" because these races are local. Just look at the voter trends in the last 10 years or so and tell me where in the increasingly delegate-rich South the Democrats are going to make inroads? *Quote:* America-hating, terrorist-coddling Democrats Glad you finally see things the way they are. I'm not too informed about what Republican seats in Congress are in jeopardy, but I know that in my home state of Maryland, the incumbent Democrat (Paul Sarbanes) is retiring, leaving a traditionally Democratic seat totally up in the air. (Lt. governor Michael Steele might run for the Repubs, and he's black, yes, a black Republican - watch out) The Democrats can't simply rely on the opposing party to screw up. In fact, that very strategy seems awfully reminiscent of the strategies of the last two presidential candidates for the Dems. Yeah, they better actually STAND for something this time. ETA: Fuck Biden for the presidency. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the cabinet of another man, but he has electability issues. I'm telling ya, it'll be Bill Richardson...and I'll rejoice. (or it'll be Hillary and I'll either vote Giuliani/McCain or commit suicide)

Biden had his moment and the sad thing is that he is actually quite a literate person, so why he resorted to plagiarism is mind-boggling, especially when compared to the Dems eventual nominee that year, the immortal Mike Dukakis, he of the infamous tank ride.
