Which is great to do to an extent -and you have to set yourself up to have every bit of foreshadowing/irony covered in a story you don't know the ending to -unlike the editors who are working backwards. I totally get that and respect that. But if you had an idea about this scene -when you originally had Vee leaving the episode based on the original new episode nine draft- about reversing it, then you had an idea about a way of deep-sixing Colleen out of the game instead of a natural progression of role-playing, which was the original mission statement back in 2002. I felt you were to quote yourself "trying to force a square peg into a round hole" even moreso with Colleen leaving then Vecepia leaving. And the mess certain characters are finding themselves in this episode only proves to me the myopia/idiocy of certain characters now.
The Vee/Colleen dance was awesome in the original, but once I realized that The Defiant One storyline wouldn't work in the rewrite (#&@!) I knew it had to die. It didn't have relevance to the storyline anymore. I totally was setting it up to mean something, that was totally obvious. But once The Defiant One didn't work out, I wanted to start with a fresh slate and go back to the drawing board. The Defiant One problems pretty much changed everything for me. I had to adapt as a writer just like the players do.
It certainly was, but I actually felt it was even more effective here in the new version -like the real thread that readers would notice after it was finished and viewed/read it again. Both Colleen and Vecepia stuck with one another, playing similar games, and trapped together. I still stand by my theory that Vecepia would want Colleen as insurance if Tina left, and that would have made it fascinating- until you changed ten episodes of Colleen being viewed as worthless and not playing the game and pissing people off by her betrayals to instantly having her be the biggest threat.
I still don't get how Alicia wouldn't jump on that chance, even if she is a complete moron- she'd have Frank, Kathy, and at least one pissed off betrayed John/Tina/Vee's (if not all three) votes from a move no one would think Colleen should make if she flipped to Gretchen and Alicia.
