Softy, on my computer it's 20 posts to a thread. On Vince's he's got it set to 100. Size never matters!

"Size never matters"? Who said that!
melinda26 - Those settings (20 replies to a thread or 100 replies to a thread) are MAXIMUM settings. In other words, they aren't a minimum setting. Therefore, if posters paste huge-ass photographs, as some did on page 2 in this topic, then there can be a smaller number of replies on the page if the size fills up the page. If you have a 20-maximum setting, you can go over to page 2 in this topic and find that you probably won't see 20 replies. |

"A question for GUYS and LESBIANS only"
Hey, no fair discriminating!! Strayt women are the best judges of other women. We don't have the fear that strayt men have at being called gay when judging our own gender, and we're impartial enough to not let the sexual attraction get in the way that lesbians may encounter. I think Jenna Bush is very pretty. Her facial features are very symmetric and she has a Norwegian "Vendela" super-model look about her. I think she's much prettier than her sister, as long as she doesn't gain any more weight. Right now, she looks "healthy", but I don't think she needs to look any more robust than she already does. |

Back to unhealthy political commentary, I'd like to point out that Clinton benefited politically from several things that he had absolutely nothing to do with....
1) The "peace dividend" that allowed spending on the military to be lowered, however in typical Clinton style he did several things to fuck this up.... He went political with the base closing commission to garner favor with California voters and there have been no base closings since. He has overextended us on our foreign commitments and that's become a large drain on both military morale and the military budget. Finally, he's cut back too much and there will need to be a substantial increase in the military share of the budget to stem the current rate of loss of qualified personnel. 2) The wrap up of the Savings & Loan fiasco. By the time Clinton took over the government had stopped spending money buying up the failed Savings & Loans and was receiving income by selling the assets. 3) Alan Greenspan had cut rates 14 separate times trying to get the economy moving again and unlike this year he did almost all of it in 1/4 point increments. If he had just cut rates by 1 1/2 points to start with Clinton wouldn't have stood a chance. 4) Both houses of congress went to the Republicans who passed several tax changes (all derided as only benefiting the rich) which helped to free up investment capital and get the economy moving. If you don't believe me find out what the Dow closed at on Nov. 1, 1992, 1994 and 1995, you'll find little difference during Clinton's first two years and a marked jump once the congress shifted. 4a) The Republican congress' belief that the country should not run deficit budgets and their half hearted attempt to actually live up to that belief. 5) The Tech boom, this would have happened no matter who was in office and for several years it created a balloon of trillions of fictional dollars in the economy. The current bust is not Bush's fault but he'll be blamed for it nonetheless. And for anyone who seriously believes that Bush will get us into WWIII, I suggest you look back at the Reagan years. There were millions of people in this country who believed the very same thing of him, a hell of a lot of them were in the press too, but what Ron managed to do was win the cold war. Want - Take - Have!

Maybe Bush will finally get us out of the Bosnia crap.
Clinton said it would be short term (Like 6-18 months, can't quite remember). We've been there since what, 94? ________

"the economy slowed down, what did we do? We turned to a Clinton."
Puleeeease! This makes it sound like the country was yearning for Clinton. He didn't even get a majority of the vote! In fact, he had LESS votes than George W. Bush got in this past election, which was less than Gore's. That's not saying much for Clinton. If it weren't for Perot, Clinton would not have won. Perot garnished around 15 % of the vote. And the majority of those voters were Republicans. According to the exit polling, the vast majority of those voters would have voted for George H. Bush. Props to Bob for pointing out the Alan Greenspan fucked George H. Bush. He didn't react fast enough nor big enough to help the economy, which eventually did start to go back up, but it was too late in the Bush Presidency for him to save face and to effectively counter Slick Willy's lies that the economy was still heading south. |

I agree that W. rocks. Miles better than psycho-Clinton. Clinton bombed people whenever he was in trouble and if we have a terrorist attack it will be his fault. Also, W. has two interesting daughters rather than one boring prig bitch and a stylish and graceful wife rather than a fat bitchwhore.

Back to the "tax relief..."
While the suggestion to not cash the check is tempting, I really doubt it would have much of an effect on the way republicans view the whole refund. I would rather be able to ask them to put it towards some gov't program instead of getting it back. And without taxes the cool things we come to depend upon, like government supported hospitals and clinics, do not get the money they need to stay up-to-date with the most current forms of treatment. And 5 dollars a week? Whee.... now I'll get to buy me 1/3 of a gallon of gas! Really, $5/wk = $260/year.... that's nothing. Take it and keep it and use it for a decent government program, not for office supplies. And isn't illegal to try and buy votes? How is this not what Dubya's doing? To err is human, to moo, bovine!

"And isn't illegal to try and buy votes? How is this not what Dubya's doing?"
You consider giving the money back to the people who paid it in buying votes but don't consider government programs that take your money and give it to other people buying votes???? "I would rather be able to ask them to put it towards some gov't program instead of getting it back." Personally, if my money is going to a worthy cause, I'd rather choose which one and avoid all the government middlemen. If you support a hospital why can't you just give them your money yourself? Why do you feel that any cause you support should also be supported by my tax dollars too? Want - Take - Have!

Hence, the over-riding difference in political philosophies.
Frankly, I'm fascinated by folks who suggest that government can spend their money better than they can, and that government has no obligation to spend the money they have wisely. At a minimum, you can count on them to spend everything you allow them to seize from you, and then some. JBMoney

I voted for Gore. It was an anti-Bush vote, not a pro-Gore vote.
Check out www.toostupidtobepresident.com I despise the man and it is a deep gut wrenching hatred. When all about you are losing their heads, insist upon a swordsman from France for your own.

WHY do people DESPISE W? I can understand why people disagree with him, but where does the hatred come from? I can't help but think that people who feel this way are influenced by the media and Hollywood, who perhaps have specific reasons to hate him.

I really don't think liberals despise him (the "common" pee-on liberal....not the millioniare "limousine liberal").
They probably think Dubya should've gone to school on one of the "short buses". So really, these people have a deep hatred for retarded people, and I for one, think that's sickening! |
