This is Ginger. The Bean Soup Lady adopted her just a few weeks ago. She is five years old, spayed and declawed. Her family couldn't keep her anymore -- something about a battle of wills between the cat and several large dogs. Had to use a high ISO here in low-light conditions, so the background is a bit grainy.




Ginger's just a cat. Too many cat pics are boring. Cats is cats is cats. But everyone seems to remark that Ginger "is a lovely cat," and I suppose that as far as cats go, she's not too shabby.




The Bean Soup Lady's other cat, Sister, died about a year ago. As it happened, I had secretly taken photos of Sister to give to The Bean Soup Lady and Sister died a week later (I know I killed Del The Lesbian, but I swear I never meant any harm to come to Sister -- she was 17 years old or something ridiculous like that, so death was a certainty). Anyway, The Bean Soup Lady loved the photos and immediately framed them and hung them on her wall. The Bean Soup Lady has been lonely ever since her husband, Ralph (96) died, followed soon by Sister. So she adopted Ginger and asked me to photograph her, too. I hope Ginger doesn't die now. I'd feel awful.




Still just a cat. But the bluish light reflected from a brewing afternoon storm, filtered by The Bean Soup Lady's mini-blinds gives this pic a cool quality to it.




Sometimes her eyes look more green, sometimes they look aqua.




The obvious problem with Ginger -- she is FUCKING OBESE. This is why I took most of the photos as close-ups of her face, to hide her GIGANTIC BELLY. But she DOES have a pretty face, and that's what we always say to FAT GIRLS, don't we? "You have a pretty face," which means: "You're a huge slob but I feel compelled to say something nice about you." The Bean Soup Lady has Ginger on diet cat food, though. She wants her to slim down. I think this is a good idea.




New duck pond resident with lovely blue feathers, similar to the one with the purple feathers, but blue.
