I wanted to smack the guy who was all "MY SHOULDER'S HURT" when Mindi was trying to show him how to give a massage. And then it looked like he felt that the women had cooties or something!

I dig Brad. I get the feeling that he's actually a cool guy. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up banging his partner. That guy that nominated him for eviction is a douche bag. He's just threatened by his coolness.

I think Brad was also cast at the last minute and is a friend of somebody involved in the show. The only caption under his name is MENSA member and he doesn't seem to be a loser. The guy who nominated Chuck is probably going to hook up with that girl Scarlet next week.
To me, Richard was being highly annoying in this episode. He needs to tone down his act a little bit. That was hilarious when Mindi giggled and said, "I thought your shoulders were bigger." I read a great article on the show, here's a link to it. This writer was bagging on Richard. www.realityfanforum.com/m...le&sid=308 |

Disappointed that the girls aced their quiz. What's the fun with that?
Funniest part was Richard screaming about his shoulder pain. Geez, was he kept for entertainment value. don't bother on my account. |

I thought it was really funny when Brad said that listening to girls' conversations was lowering his IQ.

Hell if you are gonna edit Catalina to be the villan than keep her that way. Don't have her be a bitch one minute than a crying boohoo I hate having to make this pick whiner the next.
The Richard I have to pray moment after mindi was helping him with his clothes was priceless |

I thought the doctor-wannabe was being a condescending tight-ass regarding Richard's non-serious behavior. He was treating him like an animal, with his "don't encourage that behavior" schtick.
Still, he's my guess for getting close with yummy Scarlet next week. |

Quote:The name is Caitlin. This show is just Ok for me. Some of these guys are not naturally smart and are only nerds educational wise b/c they have no lives and study all day. Most people can do well in school if they spend like 10 hours studying for a test..but then again most people have lives. When given a new subject the average guys are failing where as the actual natrually gifted smart ones are doing fine. Richard and Joe seem like they aren't really that smart. They just had tons of time to study in their lives. Chuck is the only one that really seems smart in a highly gifted way. Same w/ the girls..they are not all that dumb. Scarlet seems somewhat decent as does Krystal and Lauren. These girls are the opposite of the guys where as they didn't study in school, didn't take the time and did poorly. They aren't really stupid..b/c when they actually try they can do well. ********************************************* Let me just say that Erica is lucky that she has nice hair and a good body and money to buy cute clothes, b/c IMO her face is nasty. When she had her hair up? Ugh..her nose is weird, she looks mousy and she's just ugly. |

And I think the "boo-hoo" moment was reinforcing the bitchiness, not contradict it. I don't think it was sincere at all, and what were they supposed to do, cut it out? It was WHILE she was announcing her choice. I suppose they could cut out all that nastiness and pretend she's a nice, sensitive girl...but come on!

Re: The editing sucks | ||

I don't think it was insincere. The experience of being on a show like this - especially for someone so young and so sheltered - is probably REALLY intense. If asking a girl out felt like the end of the world then being on a reality show would have been emotional. I think it all just really hit her at that moment, like when you get to that one line in a novel that really touches you and you tear up or when you're breaking up with someone and you get to that one line that's really hard to say and it kind of sticks in your throat. Doesn't mean she changed completely as a person. But she might have had one formative moment that made her think. That's not editing. That's everyday life.

i watched the past 2 episodes on my tivo this week for the first time and maybe it is just because its summer and nothing else is on but i really like this show. I find it to be humorous and the girls arent too overly rude. The blonde chick lauren is utterly annoying though. I think of the 5 teams left I am pulling for Shawn and Scarlet. And how the hell is brad a geek? I guess the producers had to insure there would be at least some action on the show so they put him on.

Love this show.
In a way, the word-of-mouth is alot like what happened when Rodney Dangerfield did "Back to School." It was intended to be T&A and toilet humor all the way - right down to the nickname for the school (the "Hooters"). However, during production, they realized that they had more than just standard low-brow humor, and the movie was edited accordingly. Reviewers that Summer (86 I think?) were shocked at how it was overall, not low brow at all. This show had the same feel to it, and every reviewer that I read said the same thing which can be paraphrased as follows: "I am pleasantly shocked and surprised." What bothered me the most about last week was that Caitilin was dead on in her assessment of Chuck's lack of game playing skills - like it or not, douchebag, you're playing for a share of $250,000. Get your head out of your ass and play strategically. Totally agree with the above who said that Richard should have tanked the dance contest....that is assuming that they knew that they had already won the first contest. I know that these are geeks and "beauties," but they knew enough to sign up for a reality show so you'd think that they'd have talked to friends who know something about winning these things. To me, this is Must See TV. And a final shout out to my boy Brian McFayden, who now seems to have a permanent gig hosting late May/early June WB Reality Shows - remember, he was the host of the awesome SUPERSTAR USA!!!! How can we forget his signature sign off line (OK, it was one episode, but it was awesome): McFayden.....OVER!!!!!

Wow, didn't know that about Back to School. That was indeed a smart movie -- Sam Kennison's Nam vet professor alone is worth renting it. The diving crap at the end was kind of lame, though.
Richard totally knew that Mindi had won the quiz: he was in the audience when she won and rushed up onstage and kissed her feet. Weird thing: Chuck and Cait proceeded to do the exact same thing, winning both, the very next elimination. Maybe the other boys were simply too physically impaired that only the med student could win the massage contest. Then again, Chuck's already confirmed that he has no clue about how to play the game. Oh well, it's going to be fun watching the supposed bubbleheads schooling the Mensa boys on how to strategize. I, too, am completely digging this show. What's the background on this McFayden? I'd never seen him before. |

McFayden used to be on MTV doing the News.
I love Back to School and Easy Money. My favorite exchange in Back to School is when someone tells Rodney that his whorish wife (played byAdrienne Barbeau) showed them her Klimpt. Trendy Man: Mr. Melon, your wife was just showing us her Klimt. Thornton Melon: You too, huh? She's shown it to everybody. Trendy Man: Well, she's very proud of it. Thornton Melon: I'm proud of mine too. I don't go waving it around at parties, though. Trendy Man: It's an exceptional painting. Thornton Melon: Oh, the painting. |
