On the follow through, Giacomo could have attempted to take out the producers for caving in to these whiney ersatz settlers demands. I am now pulling for the local indian tribe to mount a raid for the purpose of completely annihilating this pathetic mob of pseudo-colonists. It's the only proper thing to do at this point.

I am getting sick of seeing Jonathon. I am happy you found the strength to come out. Really, I am but lets move on. He should have been the governor from the get go and instill an actual colonial life mentality in the project. Why are the Voorhees' here? All they do is bitch and whine about the weather, food, housing, living conditions, their lack of faith and freedom not to practice religion. Then they bitch when John is not made governor and again when as counselor, he is expected to attend church! They have no interest in acting out colonial life. I think the onlyreason they are here is to assert the fact that they are non-Christians and inflict the very prejudices that they are accusing everyone else of. For example, every time religion is mentioned in way, shape, or form, Michelle immediately rolls her eyes and later makes comments to the camera against it. Michelle, in the 21st century you have a choice, in the 17th century, which you wanted to be a part of, you don't. Get over it, shut your cake hole and do what is expected of you! In my opinion, the Voorhees are the cancer of the project and should have been replaced immediately by a family that was serious about this endeavor after it was apparent that they would not participate in what they signed up for.

He i'snt all that interesting but I could totally see him and his nosey wife running the town back then. I gained respect for John Voorhees last night but I continued to dislike his wife. At least he's willing to make a effort. All the wife does is complain. I missed the first half hour of the first episode. How did they pick what roles everybody got. It seems unfair to me that some of them had to be servants the entire time. If I learned I was gonna be a servant for 8 months I would be gone fast. This show has turned similar to Frontier House. There aren't many people to like.

I loved Frontier House: there the people were easy to get to know, their mission was clear, you always learned something interesting, and the scenery was beautiful. This just seems like a hodgepodge of characters, with no clearcut (or always changing) goals. (The young British guy might be saying something interesting but I can't understand a word of it)

I agree with most of the folks in this thread...don't even sign up if you're not going to give 100% or as close to that as you possibly can. EPMB would throw your ass out if you refused to participate in something "because you didn't feel like it". I mean - if you know you're going back to frontier times, or colonial times, or whatever, you MUST accept that if you're a woman you have no rights. NONE. Does that suck? Sure. But YOU SIGNED UP FOR IT! I like the comment about "cheating" on the 1940's house (I didn't hear that one, I didn't get to see every episode) but that is so true about how it cheats everyone. I thought it was hilarious when they showed previews for tonight and that one woman was like "we aren't helping these people to survive...and I'm really happy about that" I was glad they brought in the "company man" ... I like him, he just may turn things around. But he doesn't have much time! I think the "characters" should "play" as if they WOULD have to survive the winter. For instance, why are they not talking to the Native Americans and getting info on local edible plants? There were something like 5x the number of edible plants in the "new world" than in Europe.

The whining and complaining, especially with regards to the religious aspect. What did you NOT understand about Puritans and Colonies when you signed up! That said I was not suprised that the black Freeman left. It dawned on him that this was not "real" and his "real" role would be inherently different in Colonial Times and he wisely abandonded the project. Which is a shame only because he was articulate and intelligent and I think frankly the only time I have ever seen any black American on a reality program who wasn't fulfilling some stereotype. I absolutely loathe Govenor Ketchup and his self important wife. They have to be the most pompous two ever.. beating out the triple name fuckers on Manor House, which until now held that title. One thing, however, consistent throughout these series is how thier imagination and creativity flow. Usually the children really thrive but despite servant Jonathan's whines, his play was clever and entertaining.

I think this is one of the first threads where nearly everyone is in complete agreement on the series and its problems. I hope somebody that works with PBS sees this and takes notes.

When I watched the first episode I was hoping that it would be good but it has been a disappointment for me. They are straying away from the premise of the show and it's getting very dull. You signed up for it now do as you are told.
