I'm rewatching this repeat on PBS, and I still can't decide if I dislike(d) the Wyers or the Heinz family more. *L* The 'holier than thou' attitudes each possessed was highly annoying. |

There is a new one coming to the History Channel ""Outback House" 1850's Australian outback, was due to premiere in June but one of the participants, a teen apparently committed suicide a couple of days ago so it has been shelved until September, the suicide is unrelated to the show.
"Ranch House" is underway in Texas and will hopefully premiere in the fall. I personally love these shows |

Colonial House bit.
They really need to cast people COMMITTED to doing it, no cheating. They can't do it as 21st century people VISITING the olden times, they have to LIVE like the olden times,( if that makes sense.) I've seen them all. My favorite is 1940s House second faves are Manor and Frontier, then 1900, then Regency House Party. Colonial House is definitely bottom of the barrel for me. |

Anyone see this? A 17 year old who, along with her family, is starring in a new series like this - called The Colony just commited suicide not long after returning home. Scary stuff.

This is so sad. I bet the psychological trauma of being on a reality is more extensive than we realize.

I guess they didn't cast me.
:lbf Fuckers! I specifically said that I wanted to immerse myself in living the way they did in the past instead of bitching and breaking all the rules. Looks like they want the whiners. |

Quest for the Sea | ||

FYI; anyone who lives in the Minneapolis/Sait Paul viewing area.
Channel 2 (TPT 2) is showing Quest for the Sea this afternoon from 1:00-4:00. I really enjoy it when they show the entire series in an afternoon. Anyway, this particular version is a Canadian living history show set in a 1930's fishing outport on the island of Newfoundland (maybe, Labrador). It isn't shown that often and isn't too bad, as these shows goes. |

Just finished watching Frontier House.
Wow. Almost as good as Manor House. 1940's is being shipped out on Monday to me. I can't wait. Since Beau's HOH, I sure ain't spending my week watching him. The Clunes sucked. The newlyweds were my favs. Felt so sorry for those poor kids. When they killed the pig, I cried right along with the little boy. |

Didn't Canada start the original version of all these historical reality shows? I can't remember the name of it..........Pioneer House? Two couples go out to Alberta or somewhere and build sod houses, etc? I especially remember the mosquitos, yikes! That was one of my favorite shows of all time.

I think Nate Brooks from Frontier House is very hot!

I hated the Canadian version (was it called Pioneer Quest?). One family had to leave under questionable circumstances and the other original family leeched so much help form the local Mennonite (?) population that they completely ruined the authenticity of the show.
RE: Cutie Pie Nate ~ My parents live in Montana and their local heritage museum had guest speakers who were part of Frontier House...not the actual families but the planners & trainers who helped make the experience work. These people said that Nate specifically wanted land without a cabin. He knew that this would be his honeymoon and he wanted to build the cabin for him and his bride with his own bare hands. Such a romantic! |

I just rented Frontier house and am really enjoying it so far! I hate the Clunes though. All they do is whine and complain. I love Nate and I think the other family is pretty nice too. I have seen Colonial house and 1900 House when it first aired. I have to rent all the others.I think I may rent Colonial House to watch again.

1900 House, 1940s House, Manor House, and Texas Ranch House were my favorites, despite the Cooke family from TRH doing everything in their power to screw things up.
I wish they'd make a new one soon. |

For the record, this was the thread that was the last to hang on the page 20 precipice when the Yuku transition took place.
There are older threads out there, but this one.... is kinda like Chris Daugherty winning Survivor. Oprah's appearance sucked the life out of this show. |
