aquatic, I totally get that--after I reread my post, I realized that not a word about the medicine. The stories aren't quite as touching anymore. Last night they didn't even finish telling me about the mom and kids in the volvo, really. It was so much less personal and more soap-y.

Quote: I agree! Carter and Abby are so stupid and miserable, who cares about their crummy relationship especially when it dominates the whole show. This show was at its best when it weaved in and out of trauma patients' lives. We were given glimpses into their pain and each episode left me wanting more. Another cutting edge show bites the dust. |

This is exactly what I was thinking at the end...she standing at the mom's bed, and I'm thinking - what happened to the kids? Where's the other girl's mom? Did the girl who had to sit in the middle die? They used to finish these stories in an episode, along with all the melodrama of the staff.

Actually, I wasn't even sure if that old woman (Rosemary Harris) who Gallant was responsible for, was dead. When that Indian girl was watching over her at the end feeling miserable for herself after the woman 'bled out', I couldn't tell if she was dead or just sleeping.

yah she was dead. Thats why Pratt took her to see the car accident lady. You know first day on the job and you lose one but you save one...blah blah...

Thanks She and all for filling me in. What happened with Ching Mae or whatever Pratts girlfriend is called?
I've never thought Abbey was good enough for Carter. I didn't think she was pretty enough for Kovach either. I know they want him to be gritty (sexual harassment and partying it up) but he's entirely too handsome to count all of that against him since we know his background. He can't be dead. I know in real life Noah Wyle has a young child now so I can see him wanting to spend less time on the set. Surely he knows there won't be much of a life after ER though, consider that carefully. He's not 'leading man' handsome or funny enough to play second chair. NBC should pay for a tummy tuck and face lift for diet chicks airability. I didn't like Susan the first time she was on. Why did she come back? Weaver needs a plotline and Romano needs to go! |

No way! Romano needs to stay stay stay! Even if hes just in the background lol.
All carter and abby do is drive each other away and make each other miserable. Abbys character is always unhappy, miserable, slugish, and she should go back to drinking. Having her as an alcoholic nurse that ends up killing a patient and then she kills herself is the perfect part for her character cause she always brings others down and herself down. Goodbye abby! I would like to see susan's character go back the way it was when she started. I woudlnt call her cut throat... but if she came back as the main doctor (now that carter isnt on as much), i would be happy. She should continue to butt heads with Weaver because i loved it when they hated each other. I can accept the part time husband thing for now... but then something needs to happen cause that will just get old. Perhaps their bringing in the new nurse for when drunkend abby goes out on a helicoptor call, and ends up hijacking the helicopter, only to crash it into the staff of ER docs and nurses waiting on the landing pad... now thats great drama I think the new doc is very pretty, but there is soemthing a little odd about her. At first i thought maybe she had a reading problem or something. She just kind of stared at things and didnt say much... who knows... i hope she becomes a part of the regular cast |

This show is sucking lately -- okay, in truth, it's sucked for a long time but Luka has kept it watchable. I especially liked the episodes in the jungle...they should spin off a series called "Docs Without Borders" and have Luka as the star.
Anyway -- my take on the cast: Abby and Carter: huge assholes! Both of them. Typical dialogue: "I love you." "You can't love me...I'm unlovable!" "You didn't come to my granny's funeral. I'm mad at you!" "You went to the Congo! I'm mat at YOU!" Enough already! Who actually gives a shit if these two end up together? I hope they both die horrible horrible deaths so we can have another guest appearance of Sally Field shrieking and running around. Susan Lewis & Flyboy: When did Susan become such a skanky whore having sex in the bathroom at work with that frumpy dork? Hello? She was Mark Greene material a few years ago...now he wouldn't touch her with a ten foot dick, even if he is dead. Kerry Weaver & the poor actress who plays her: "To the writers of ER, thanks for making my character a one-note angry lesbo bitch. If I agree to chew the scenery in all my shots can I direct more episodes? Please?" Frank: when does this relic get fired for sexual harrassment and discrimination? What workplace would tolerate those kinds of remarks? And why doesn't Pratt just kick the shit out of him? Jing Mae & Pratt: enough already with the bickering. You dig each other -- Pratt's a "playa" and so are you Jing-Mae. Cut the shit. Bring back the retarded brother, he was the most appealing part of your twisted relationship. New Indian Doc: you're too cool to be working with these stiffs, with the possible exception of Corday. She seems to have chilled since last season, let's hope the writers have their fill of angry, bitchy docs with Weaver. Romano: one-arm, no-hair, short and abrasive...I LURV you Romano! Let's hope ER can be saved...or we might just have to "call it." |

Everything in this thread has been said for years about this show, ever since George Clooney left. There's a reason people are still watching though.
The show is as good as it was at that point (different than it was the first few seasons). The premiere had less to do with the medical cases because it WAS THE PREMIERE, they were tying up old storylines and starting new ones. After next week (since Carter is going to Africa) and especially after Carter takes his hiatus, the show will begin to focus on the cases I bet. I'm looking forward to this season more than ever....the new characters sound interesting. Hopefully it doesn't get too diluted though like it has in the past. |

What I need to know is why every male cast member has to go through the "facial hair" phase. Carter's done it... Greene did it... I'm not positive, but I'm willing to say that Ross did it once (although I can't remember). And now, both Romano and Gallant are doing it.
If Kovac does it, I will scream. |

I suppose Carrie will just refuse to shave her legs. Sad how this once great show has turned into this. Last years spooge sweater with Deb/Chen was pretty funny, though. Damn girl, wash your clothes!

Quote: I remember an episode from back in Season 1 or 2 where Dr Greene and his wife were doing the same thing in I think that very same bathroom. So he can skank it too. Re: the formerly large nurse: The actress had her stomach stapled. They actually wrote her out of the season premiere last season because it was supposed to take place on the same day as the season finale before that, and she looked so different they didn't think it would be believeable that no time had passed. SPOILER about Luka: I read somewhere (one of Wanda's spoilers on E! maybe?) that Luka has malaria. He's not dead. Carter will bring him back. |

Re: ER = BS | ||

Wrong about the nurse who lost all her weight, I read an article about her last year in a major magazine interview that she did it the hard way with diet and exercise. She didn't get gastric bypass surgery.
I was really actually in tears hearing the news about Kovac at first and almost in tears. I love Luka and I need my Luka every thursday. I was glad that the previews show he is basically just missing but assumed dead, phew Carter( Noah Wyle) is not going to be on ER after the first two episodes till after the beginning of the series after the Christmas break because his real wife is having/had a new baby and he is taking time off to be with his new addition. I used to love Abby but I am sick of their story line. I think I liked her and Luka together more but I would love to see Elizabeth with him or maybe another new hottie doctor with Elizabeth, mmmmmmmmm. Romano, I hate the man but he is awesome in the show. I am sick of Weaver and I hope she gets caught in all the cover up crap eventually from last season and that one dude. I want resolution on that storyline. Pratt and Ching Mae(sp?) I love those two together. I hated Pratt when he first came on ER but I have actually really grown fond of him and he is quite sexy in his own way. I wish Pratt would lay off on the flirting with every woman that comes across his path and continue with Ching Mae(sp?) Front desk dude(Frank) rude rude rude but he has always been a little harsh but his comments were out of line that night. Galant needs a woman. Maybe Galant and the new girl can hit it off. I like Susan and her little fling with the EMT dude. I think it is funny. He might not be a hunk but Susan and him have great chemistry together at least in the bedroom Great idea with a spin off of this show with Luka and Doctor's without Borders. That might be an awesome idea for a new drama on NBC |

Re: ER = BS | ||

I agree about Susan. I loved her when she first started on the show (right up till when she left on the train, leaving Greene at the station). The whole thing with her sister Chloe and her baby... what a fuckin' nightmare.
Then she left "ER", and I was sad. When I heard she was coming back, I was so happy, and shocked, because she had initially said that she was done with "ER" and would never do it again. Anyway, they gave her a good storyline that crossed over onto "Third Watch" with the whole Chloe/baby thing again... but that's all she's been given. When they tried to get her romantically involved with Carter, I really found that tripe hard to swallow. It was so contrived and forced, it just didn't make any sense at all. When it didn't work out, I was amazed that now they've given her character a whole background we never knew about (she was married... is now divorced) and now her groundbreaking scenes are giving her ex-husband blowjobs in the public toilets. Gawd... how could they have trashed her character so badly like this? She is un-utilized and wasted. I hate to say it, but maybe it was a mistake after all to bring her back... |

Re: ER = BS | ||
Quote: It's not a whole new background in the past...it happened during the course of last season. I agree that the character is underutilized and could be written off pretty easily. The logical step for Susan would be for her to battle Weaver and Romano and try to take control of the ER. But that would go against everything her character was about the first time around, when she was afraid of being Chief Resident. I still think that's a good road for her instead of suddenly getting married and divorced. Plus it would bring back Weaver into a more central role. |

Re: ER = BS | ||

That's right... Susan and Weaver used to clash when Greene was around. They were the Alexis/Krystyl of the "ER" because Weaver always had it out for her.
Now there's none of that anymore. In fact, they seem to get along just fine. |
