Posts: 662 (03/20/09 7:25 PM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Unfortunate timing of the plot line with the guy hitting his head and needing surgery but I loved seeing Neela end up with Ray. And I like the fact we didn't really know which job she accepted. I thought she was going to Johns Hopkins or somewhere else. Wasn't Ray in New Orleans or somewhere else in the south? If the show wasn't doing well we wouldn't have gotten these last four episodes and the show would have ended last week.

A few weeks ago, I thought Neela was going to Duke but then they started giving clues that made me think Ray would be involved, such as: a) Dubenko was pissed she was going to a not-as-great hospital whereas Duke is apparently one of the best. b) Neela told Simon about failing to take chances and the biggest chance she didn't take was getting in a relationship with Ray. c) Ray was mentioned throughout the season (his visit, texts, CD, phone calls) and Neela quickly dumped Brenner recently. It was nice of the writers to appease some of the fans who wanted them together. ER's really good in getting people to return at the right time to facilitate some happy endings (Clooney when Nurse Hathaway left and now Ray for Neela). BTW I think Neela and Ray are in the finale in 2 weeks. Neela definitely is but it's supposed to be a short appearance. Last Edited By: loveski 03/20/09 11:27 PM. Edited 2 times.

He got his legs amputated due to being hit by a car and left. He has been in love with Neela forever. Now she's gone to Baton Rouge to be with him. That's the short version. Oh, and he is my favorite.

ITA - Abby is probably my all time favorite ER character. I loved seeing a bit more of her and sooo spot on with her character. Actually, thinking about it, the Abby-Neelah friendship is my favorite "relationship" storyline of the entire show too.

McWolcott did a really great overview but the slightly longer version (because I read wiki and want to share my knowledge) is Ray joined the hospital in season 11 as a resident (same year as Neela and Abby). Initially he was more into his band than the hospital and even quit to be with the band. The band fired him because they knew he should be in the hospital. Neela eventually became roommates with Ray. Neela shotgun married another doctor, Gallant, who went off to war so she continued to live with Ray. Ray did a lot of stupid things (like hooking up with a 14 year old he didn't know was a 14 year old - that was gross). But then he fell for Neela/she was attracted to him (I forget if she liked him?). She moved out when she realized it was awkward, Gallant died at war, and she proceeded to hook up with John Stamos (lame)/ push Ray away for most of season 13. Near the end of the season, it looked like her and Ray would get together but after a lot of misunderstandings, Ray gets drunk and gets hit by a car and loses his legs. He's pissed and leaves the show but it's shown that they kept in touch all along. And then this season he came to visit where they almost hooked up but didn't.

I will say that when they showed Carter and later Ross, I felt old. The whole idea that nobody really knew them from the ER cast was very realistic. It reminded me of when I would go back to the camp I worked at in the early 90's, looking for the few folks that may remember me from my last year or two there. ER is really two shows. The new cast is really a spin-off of the original. That's the way I felt. I cannot get connected with any of the new people, including Neela (I pretty much watched once in a blue moon since Greene passed away). To me, ER is really Greene, Carter, Ross, Hathaway, Benton, Lewis, Weaver, Corday, Romano and Kovac and Lockhart. Everyone else is the cast of "ER: The New Generation".

I liked the blond chick who played Carter's gf in the first season or so - she used to be on 90120?? (Or maybe just dated Jason Priestly??) She was great - left ER to star in some series that was cancelled within a few eppies. There have been so many wonderful characters on this show - some stuck around longer than others.

Bradley Whitford could maybe bring the kid in for something non depressing like a broken arm. Kirsten Dunst could have reprised her character...i think she didn't die. CCH Pounder's character too. The nurses Yosh and Lydia Randi the desk clerk.
