Victor Hugo did I believe. So, for instance, there are about 500 different biographies about Calamity Jane, all of them different, who is right? Same with most things. It's only as accurate as the person writing it. You think people write with complete truthfulness and without any personal bias whatsoever?

It wouldn't surprise me if it came from someone French, as they tend to discount objectivity. They also claim that language is incapable of transmitting meaning, just because theirs has so few words. And no, everyone's got their own spin or interpretation. But sifting through these, you can usually discern what everyone agrees about -- i. e., something approximating objectivity. These are the points which most often come up when people are disputing a work of art's historical accuracy, not interpretations.

I'm just saying that everyone has their own slant on historical events, the further back, the less likely it is that they're completely accurate. My main point was that I tend to watch drama's loosely based on history without worrying what they get right or wrong. I just enjoy them.

(I don't see a credit for him on imdb, so he may have done it as a favour to someone.)

I guess I'm one of the many who got spoiled by Rome. I love period pieces, but geez, the whoring with the chamber maid gets old after awhile. JRM is beautiful, but in the intro and outro he made me realize he's really a pompous ass. I'll take my beloved Jeremy Northam anyday. Although he is starting to show his age. I'll watch a couple more and see where it takes me. Now...it's just meh.

JRM is beautiful, but horribly miscast in this. He doesn't even closely resemble Henry VIII, and tends to overact. I was only able to point out one historical inaccuracy. They refer to a Pope Alexander, who is supposedly dying. But Alexander VI died in 1503, six years before Henry VIII's succession. Alexander VII reigned between 1655 and 1667, long after Henry's death. I'm also pretty sure that none of Henry's uncles were ever ambassador at Urbino.
