This show was one of those great discoveries that I found on DVD then looked forward to when I finally got the chance to see it on TV. Of course it would be cut short by the writer's strike and everything would be left completely unresolved. No chance of it migrating to a different network or being wrapped up with a 2-hour mini-movie?

Today Eddie Izzard announced that the team behind the show is working on a movie version of "The Riches". While the show was critically acclaimed and especially Izzard and co-star Minnie Driver received praise and award nominations, viewer numbers just weren't enough for a renewal by FX Networks. Just last month the show was officially canceled. Izzard didn't reveal much about plans for the movie, but did indicate that a meeting took place and that the writers are working on a possible story. He also mentioned that the current financial situation is "perfect" to make an "independently-funded film version of the show"
