I enjoyed last night's ep, but I really don't care for episodes that involve cases they don't solve. I just like my closure. If I didn't, I'd watch Unsolved Mysteries instead.

I think Griss could see that Sarah was getting too emotionally attatched to the girl.
It was a good episode, but I hope it resolves soon. |

Quote: I wondered that too, but hasn't she been involved in rape cases before? Maybe it was because she was a teenager. It was so sad, when the girl said, her and her boyfriend had been waiting to have sex, then it happened this way. I thought about that at the end. She was never able to resolve that in her life. |

yes, Sarah has been involved in rape cases before, and she
always reacts this way. I noticed it then, and have been waiting for it to all come to a head. Maybe this season? Yes, that poor girl was too scared to ID the creep, so he was let out. He then came to her house and shot her in her own driveway. she had been to the store, apparently. Very upsetting ending. I hated it. I still don't know what the frigging producer was hinting at with the final frame of ep one. I wish I'd taped it, I could go rewatch in slo mo. I didn't see anything amazing or shocking. |

Actually, CBS and NBC pulled new episodes as a concession to the Baseball Playoffs. They decided to save their new episodes for a time when someone was around to watch them

This was quite possibly the most disturbing episode I've seen, due to the victim. It was horrible and made me very uncomfortable. I guess that's the point though, if a fictional drama can affect me like that. They've done a good job to achieve it.
The baby death storyline was sad as well. |

Can someone tell me what happened last night? I was so tired....I spent the previous 2 nights doing major organization in my office and was up until after midnight, that I just could not keep my eyes open last night. I made it thru Survivor, then started watching CSI with good intentions....but fell asleep. Next thing I knew it was 11:30 and the news was over!
I saw the beginning - the baby in the car. The girl in the water. The fat guy in the massaging recliner. Something about heat lightning thru the phone, but then there wasn't any lightning that night. And how the current went the OTHER way i.e. originated from the phone. I saw the mother talking to the cop guys and then start hitting her husband and break down in his arms. I saw Catherine looking in the car and trunk and pull something out of it. What was it? What happened after that??? Someone fill me in! |

While CSI are usually good when it comes to the gruesome special effects/make-up concerning the cadavers, I must say that the dead baby couldn't have looked more like a plastic doll in last night's episode.
Other than that... great episode. Three dead bodies - only one was murder, the other two accidental. A fat guy electrocuted himself while trying to keep cool in the heat. He placed a chunk of ice in front of a fan and when it melted, the water trickled towards a power outlet that gave him an electrical shock, resulting in a heart attack. He was also about to make a phone call, which explained while he was still holding a 'burned out' phone in his hand. A girl's body was pulled from a lake with cranial fractures, suggesting she received a blow to the head. The guy she was last seen with was also missing, presumed to have killed her and fled the scene. When they found the site where the girl was murdered, they also found the guy's body. The girl had jumped from a rock formation, hit her head at the bottom of the lake and died. The guy tried to save her by jumping in, but the pressure killed him also. As for the baby... the parents lost their first child to some debilitating disease. They thought their second baby was showing the same symptoms when in fact he had just been exposed to pesticides in the garden, thus showing the exact same symptoms as the disease even though he didn't have it. Misunderstanding, they didn't want to lose their second child the same way through the same suffering, so they gave him some cold medicine to knock him out, then left him in the car where he died of heat exposure and dehydration. Only after CSI had gone over the case with a fine-tooth comb did they release the terrible mistake that they had made. And when will Grissom shave that facial hair off already? |

Wow. Was not expecting THAT outcome. Thanks for the recap! Were both parents charged with murder, then?

Re: CSI | ||

It was kinda left in the air. After they realized their mistake, they both broke down in tears. Catherine looked at them with pity (being a mother herself) knowing that they would have to live and deal with this tragedy for the rest of their lives, thus remaining in a personal Hell.
I'm sure they would have been charged with murder for killing a perfectly healthy baby. |

KoM - I agree about the baby. When they first showed him I thought - well that's a damn cruel joke that someone would put a fake baby in a car seat. Then to my shock it was suppose to really be a baby.... not their best.
It looks like they drop that damn idea of Grissom and Sarah (thank god) but it looks like she's starting to make gogglie eyes at the lab tech (Ryan?). Personally they need to just forget the soap opera shit and keep doing cases. Don't mess with genius ;) |

I think they had to use a fake looking baby, because a real one would have made many people (especially newer mothers) flip out. My wife couldn't handle it even with the fake baby.

The baby was fake looking, but the story was interesting. I thought that it would turn out the the mother had munchousien by proxy syndrome.
What was Sarah's problem with letting the father know that his son had tried to save the girl? |

Re: CSI | ||

Babies seem to be the one case where they don't even try to look real. In the episode a couple of years ago where the Internet millionaire (yeah, right...this was AFTER the crash) staged the kidnapping to cover the fact that his preschooler had accidentally killed the baby, that one looked just like a doll too.

Re: CSI | ||

I think Sara's problem with Nick talking to the father was that the evidence couldn't prove for certain that the guy was trying to save the girl. All they could prove was that they both jumped/fell off the cliff.
As an aside, did anyone notice that the girl was Ryan Starr from the first American Idol? I guess she's given up all pretense of a singing career. |

Quote: They couldn't prove exactly what happened one way or the other. So why leave the father hanging with unanswered questions about his son's death? Why not let the father believe his son died a hero? What's the harm in that? Nick did the right thing. Sara came off as an unfeeling bitch. Even though the baby's body was so doll-like in the beginning of the show, they really made a grusome impression at the end when they showed the father walking away from the live baby, who turned and started to cry. I still can't get that image out of my head. |
