Claim: Soap opera actress Eileen Davidson used to be a man.

Origins: Imagine being one of the most beautiful women in the world and having a rumor that you were once a man dog your steps for close to two decades.

That is the reality of TV soap actress Eileen Davidson. She's been Ashley Suzanne Abbott on The Bold and the Beautiful, Kristen Blake, Kristen's lookalike Susan Banks, and Susan's sister Sister Mary Moira on Days of Our Lives; Kelly Capwell on Santa Barbara; and Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless. Soap Opera Digest has repeatedly named her one of the most beautiful women in daytime drama.

The rumor is false, but it's amazing how even the most specious of rumors can stick with a person year upon year. Davidson, a typical high school student who'd grown up a typical little girl in a Southern California home, started down the road to fame when as a 19-year-old she was approached on a beach by a photographer who asked if she'd consider becoming a model. Modeling led to acting, and she began her soap opera career in 1982 as Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless when she was 23. She was married to Jon Lindstrom, who plays Dr. Kevin Collins on Port Charles.

In 1999, Davidson offered the following possible explanation as to why this claim has attached to her:

People swear they saw me on Donahue talking about my surgery. But it was Tula [a transgender model], who has long blond hair and angular features like I do. I never appeared on Donahue, and I am not a transexual.

This is a pleasing explanation for the origin of this silliness (because it's based upon nothing more than a confusion over similarity of appearances), but it's wrong. Caroline Cossey (a transsexual model and actress known professionally as Tula) appeared on Donahue on 29 June 1990, yet we found the "Eileen Davidson is a man" canard discussed in a 1987 newspaper article, proving that the gossip predates Tula's talk show appearance. Moreover, in that article a CBS spokeswoman reported that this tale was then about two years old, which dates it to 1985.

Being the subject of gossip and silly rumors is often part and parcel of being famous.

no, I think it's a totally new actress/character. I don't know why they'd keep her 'undercover' if she's not someone from the past? Maybe they want us to believe this. We'll find out soon enough..but not today.

Today was Sharon's great leap into the start of her meltdown. The guilt was running down her like hot buttered BUTTERBITS! Having an internal meltdown of her own, Red is not going to go 'the usual' route to try to save her marriage and she will go 'almost' Stepford Wife to keep her man.....this is how it played out today!

RED/NICK: Nick is handling the waterbottle with booze on it and asks Red to smell the contents. He tells Red 'he feels betrayed by Noah after what happened to Cassie.' WOW..EXCUSE ME MR. BETRAY YOUR 'WIVES'???
Red tells him to 'relax' and wait until there are facts. Speculating isn't going to solve anything. ....so, he's off to find answers. Meanwhile 'over to Sharon'.

Sharon comes to p/up Noah at Jack's place: She forgot Noah was doing something else. Jack wants Sharon to visit, have a glass of wine and get her mind off things. He asks if she's okay and she overstates that 'she is fine' but her hand is shaking.

Red calls Michael (who is with Katherine) and pleads to meet with him. He agrees.

Sharon is fidgety. Jack is really concerned about her. He doesn't want her being alone at the Hotel suite. He says he's her friend 24/7 but Sharon says she's really ALL RIGHT..and gets angry when he won't drop it! SAVED BY THE DOORBELL....it's Detective Wallnuts. He has ???'s for Jack about Brad's death. The Dectective has the print out of the cabin (Bradinski made) and he's asking about it with Sharon present. Sharon just 'tells him that Brad came to see her'.. the STUPID DETECTIVE is curious as to why Brad would he leave mid-storm and risk his life. Jack tried to protect Sharon
THIS ALL MAKES SHARON FEEL HORRIBLE 'like Sophie's Choice'..if she had let Brad stay, her 'son' would be dead, if she hadn't sent him off , Brad would still be alive AND ON THE Y&R PAYROLL!! Too much for the gal to cope with! After this, she gets a serious call from Nick re: Noah and 'they have to talk'. He asks if she's okay and she 'blows up at him' over the phone yelling, "Why does everyone keep asking me that!!" (and he backs off/ call over..they plan to meet tomorrow)

Nick grills Lauren about the 'water bottle' and asks if they noticed any liquior missing from their bar. Lauren 'is the cool mom type' and says, 'do you not think Noah could be capable of doing this?' She adds that WE ALL DO THINGS THAT WE SHOULN'T HAVE AND WISH WE HADN'T AFTER WE'VE DONE THEM...SEEMED LIKE A GOOD IDEA AT A TIME...etc...' (speaks to Nick's latest sex crimes)..but Nick says he doesn't want those kids near each other ...PERIOD! (and leaves)

Then Red met up with Michael (at his home) and starts off by playing her concerns down re: Sharon/Nick but quickly it turns to t*ears. She can barely get it out..but Michael is the only one she can trust. She tells him Nick slept with Sharon. Michael asks if Red is 'sure' , well duh, yeah. Nick was decent enough not to LIE when asked.
But the best part is: "He said he's in love with both of us...BOTH OF US..me and Sharon..isn't that great? I'm in such good company!!"
Michael says, "after you beat him to a pulp, what did you say?"
RED: "I said I want to save this marriage and I said , PLEASE DON'T LEAVE!" (that's all you said- Michael)..RED: "This is my greatest fear realized, I've had a lot of time to think what I'd do...if I had yelled and thrown dishes..I'd be the crazy one and SHARON WOULD BE THE SAINT, everyone would have sympathy for her..No No No, I'm not doing that! I have to be rational, save my marriage and stay smart!"
Michael: "For how long..how long will you be able to keep up this charade before your head explodes?" You have to give it up to Michael, he really knows Red 'well'. (part of being a lawyer I suppose!)
Red: "Look who I'm up against Micheal, SHARON - the voice of reason, SAINTLY SHARON....Sharon Head Case ..but look at me 'HELL ON WHEELS'..everyone knows that about me. If you were Nick , who would you turn to?
Michael reminds Red that this could backfire, she could resent Nick..but, she wants to take this chance and think long-term. "Does it kill me that Nick is still in love with Sharon (t*ears), Michael , I have a little girl...I have to keep my marriage together! (then she admits to still being in love with Nick and must bite her tongue a few million times)
M: "but what then..you go back to being Phyllis as usual?"
Red: "I don't know..but I will never, ever let that woman get close to my husband again,ever!" (THEY HUG!)

Jack/Sharon: "you must be tied up in knots inside over all of this."
SHARON: "JACK STOP, JUST STOP!! I am FINE OKAY..WHY CAN'T YOU JUST LEAVE THIS ALONE..STOP RUNNING THIS INTO THE GROUND (gives both scenarios of Brad staying / leaving) and it GOES AROUND IN MY HEAD OVER AND OVER AGAIN!! (then Nick calls about meeting) and Sharon blows up at him too about 'how she is.' She's MELLLLLLLLLLLLLTING.
Jack offers his home to Sharon (it's sweet) no strings attached, no hovering..just a place to stay instead of alone in that hotel...JUST STAY!

Lauren and Michael talk about Nick 'over-reacting'. Michael doesn't talk about Nick's guilt... but Lauren says he's adament. Micael , "just because Nick Newman wants something doesn't mean it's going to be that way."
Red/Nick: Talk about kids drinking. Phyllis basically reacts with love and 'whatever I can do to help honey'..'
Then Nick brings up meeting with Sharon and invites Red to join them 'be above board!' but Red says it's best that she not as it's between them and it's for Noah's well being!' (Stepford Wife approach)

Sharon thanks Jack but says no..'they, Noah/Sharon' are not his responsibility.
Jack wants this to be about friendship and if she EVER wants anyone to talk to , he's her guy 24/7... she says, 'okay' and leaves.... outside, she stops and looks up the sky 'ready to ball her eyes out'.
