Gayle who never remarried after her divorce, quit her job and now works for Oprah. She is always by her side. Stedman is out of Oprah's life - as she dumped him claiming he reminded her of the past and her fat days.. that or maybe because his company and partner Armstrong Jones or whatever his name is was paid by Bush to promote No Child Left Behind to black causes/radio/tv... I don't think Oprah wants the taint of politics. Notice she seems to avoid poltical issues being friends to all.. as that is also really important to her.

Oprah seems obsessed with being liked. And to some she is almost a cult like persona herself. Perhaps that is why she likes Tom and John as they have that intesity that cultists have. I have always felt that her weight was the only thing that showed how deeply insecure she is. I never bought her bullshit claims that she had some baby that died or did coke. The only man ever in her life was Stedman and he was in it for the connections and she relates to people like her who live a life of "secrets and lies" She gloms onto any trend and proclaims it like she is Columbus discovering a new land. Frankly it is quite obvious and she has to be one of the most lonliest angriest women next to Martha.

And this new incident in Paris only proves to serve that she is an egomanic of high proportions. Using the proverbial race card to accuse Hermes when they had the temerity, the audacity, the stupidity to not recognize America's goddess. God help the French.

ARIS (AP) - Oprah Winfrey is suggesting she was turned away from the Hermes luxury clothing store in Paris because she's black and is calling the incident humiliating.

"People were in the store and they were shopping. Oprah was at the door and she was not allowed into the store," Gayle King, a friend of Winfrey who witnessed the incident, told TV show Entertainment Tonight.

"Oprah describes it herself as 'one of the most humiliating moments of her life."'


King said it's unlikely that Winfrey will shop there again.

"She's really OK. Her position is, 'I will shop where people appreciate my business, and I don't believe that any longer includes Hermes,"' King said.

The store appeals to the wealthy with their famous colourful scarves going for over $500 each. Coffee mugs run over $100 while ties top $200.
       

A spokeswoman for Winfrey's Chicago-based Harpo Productions said Thursday the talk-show host plans to discuss what she calls her "Crash" moment when The Oprah Winfrey Show returns to the air in September.

Crash is a film dealing with race relations.

Hermes has apologized to the TV talk-show host who is reputed to be a billionaire for turning her away after saying it was closed for a public relations event.

Winfrey and "an entourage" unsuccessfully tried to enter an Hermes boutique on Paris' Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore, Hermes said in a statement.

On that particular night, however, "a private public relations event was being prepared inside."

"Hermes regrets not having been able to welcome Madame Oprah Winfrey and the people accompanying her to give them all the attention and service that Hermes is committed to giving each of its clients in the world," said the statement, released Tuesday. "Hermes expresses its sincere regrets for any misunderstanding that these circumstances could have caused."

Let me understand something.. she has confessed to having a child die from out of wedlock, was a coke addict, had food obsession issues, was poor and black living in the South at a time when 6 young girls were killed in a church basement and this incident is the WORST in her life??

You have to be kidding me. Anyone knows that Parisians are famous for their arrogance. Particularly at Hermes where frankly if you aren't Asian they take zero notice. The store was closed, they explained why they were not making exceptions and shit half of us can't get someone at Macy's to help us find jeans. Why she and her entourage couldn't contact them ahead to arrange this is beyond me, as that is how its done when you are famous.
