That said, Taye Diggs is just doomed for TV failure. No matter what show he does, no matter how good, it's just gonna be cancelled.

I actually think that Addison's character is strong enough--she's arguably the best standalone female character on the show.

Is Taye Diggs the Ted McGinley of scripted dramas?

So how many people watched Addison like a hawk last night and went "a central character wouldn't do that" or "ooh, maybe she can..."

I don't know if Addison is really going to be the central character. From what it sounds like, it will still be an ensemble drama. She might be the female lead with Taye Diggs being the male lead--but that doesn't mean there won't be other compelling characters as well.

Taye Diggs can't act | ||

From the 'Stella' to 'Daybreak', the man can't act. He's a beautiful, beautiful think to look at but he has no depth. He's monotone.

I always thought that the name of the show, while inspired by the textbook, was a reference to how the characters are individual parts of an anatomy which is reflected in how their roles are integrated and connected to one another (obviously some are more connected to others). The idea of a spinoff in which a few characters leave to go do something else (like a B&B) seems to contradict the concept of "GREY'S ANATOMY." I know I'm not the only one who sees Addison as an integral part of the show, even if she isn't one of the interns and didn't become a regular until season 2.

Quote: IMO, there are other characters currently on the show since Season 1 who I would find more apt to leave than Addison. She's signed a huge contract, and since her and Derek aren't on bad terms, I can't see her making some lame excuse to leave. Not now. I don't question whether or not this show will fail. I simply question if it is the right decision to make in the first place. Things are going to well overall for the show to have a major character try to spin-off and potentially divide the fan base. |

I think the writers are upset at the number of storylines they have to work into each episode. I also wonder if PD and EP are requesting more screentime and better storylines, because they've become backburner plots for most of the season. But just removing Addison won't help.
I'm hopeful - like it could be an Angel or Frasier type of spinoffs that work well on its own. |

I read somewhere that Shonda said in an interview that it's hard to write storylines for all the characters because the cast is so big now.

Hmmm. The only successful spinoffs currently airing (e.g. The L&O and CSI franchises) didn't share regular casts with the original series.

Well it is rumored now that a few actors may move ont the new show with her, including Callie and McSteamy!

Sweet. A show with Addison, Callie and Mark could be way better than Grey's Anatomy. All we need now is for Christina to become BFF with Addison and they can cancel Grey's altogether.

That show would rock! We could get a lot of family background on Callie and See Addison and Marks relationship grow. Starting to make sense now with Addy and Mark possibly getting back together and her and Callie becoming BFF's.

So then George would go with Callie and TR would not have to work with IW anymore.
maybe that was part of the plan... |

I don't want Addison to leave Grey's Anatomy.
I bet anything that Sloan is gonna pass the test, they're gonna get married, they're gonna move back to New York. There you go, new show premise right there. :/ |

I cosign the Addison love. She is one of my favorites. I would hate it if she left GA but I would be happy for Kate Walsh if she got her own show.

Re: re | ||

Addison is by far my favorite character on GA and Kate Walsh is all kinds of hotness. On one hand it's great that she'd get to be the main focus of her own show but on the other hand, GA would suffer for me at least b/c she really makes the show amazing.
Also...if the spin off doesn't take, I want her to have a sure thing in GA b/c no Addison would be tragic. |

As I recall, the original idea was to give the spin-off to George and Callie. That would make sense (i.e. keep Knight and Washington away from one another!) But, for me, George is the heart of the series. So thank God, Rhimes went to another character.
I just don't know if Addison is the right character to develop a series around. I'd imagine Sloan as the best supporting player to spin-off. But I'll give Rhimes & Co. the benefit of the doubt... |
