Sure, the show isn't as great as it used to be, but there are some truly hilarious new cast members featured now, the writing is great, but the show is way too heavily dominated by males. Frank Caliendo and Stephnie Weir are probably the best of each sex, as well as Michael McDonald, who has been on the show for six seasons now. Bobby Lee is also extremely talented, but he rarely gets a chance to show his true talent, generally being put in female roles (Which he does extremely well, however) Paul Vogt and Ron Pederson are really funny, and Josh Meyers is pretty good. Aries Spears is TERRIBLE now, he has his moments, but he is well past his prime and should move on to something else. Ike Barinholtz also has his moments- he is much better than Aries, but alot worse than everyone else.
Of the Featured cast, Nicole Parker and Keegan- Michael Key stand out the most to me. Nicole has kick-ass dead on impressions of Renee Zellweger and Ellen Degeneres and really good impressions of Britney Spears and Celine Dion. Keegan- Michael, who has only been on 3 or 4 episodes, has caused alot of buzz, and had people wondering why SNL didn't pick him up- but apparently, he opted for Mad TV. Jordan Peele, Daniele Gaither and Gillian Vigman are pretty versatile and would be good additions to the cast next season also.
SNL is well past it's prime. Will Ferrel wasn't as funny as made out to be, and with him gone, what are they going to rely on? the power of their guests? Amy Poehler is hilarious, but no-one else stands out in my mind. I'm sure most of you disagree with my assessment of Mad TV being better than SNL anyway.
