I think it's great to see billion dollar companies giving to needy folks. Sears and ABC can certainly give a little.

Yep I'm a sucker, but this one was pretty good. Two hours, one roll of toilet paper and kicking everyone out of the room so I wouldn't miss anything.
Ugh.

I was so choked to turn this on and find out I was just in time for the second hour. It really sucks! I wish the menu screen on the TV would tell you
it's part two of a two parter.
That being said, I thought it was a great show. It was good to see some of the previous families. Did they say anything about Grandma Alice - the old lady from Watts? Too bad they couldn't do a TV special and revisit everyone to see how folks are doing. I wonder about the very first house they ever did. What happened to those people? I know one house that they did in the Seattle area didn't turn out so well, at least at the start. I remember reading how the family wished they had their old house back they were having so many problems with the neighbours and friends. Others were really resentful of the woman and her kids having this fancy new house. Screw the neighbours, I say. I wonder how common that reaction is. I recall too, hearing that the team does a lot of sprucing up the areas where they are to try and pick everyone's spirits up. They didn't show the new baby's room in this house. I wonder where they plan on putting the new one. The green downstairs was rather bright but all in all I think they did a great job. I would love to have the oldest girl's room. That was really nice. And I thought the final five minutes was a really touching ending. All in all, even if I did miss half of the show (and I'm not really sure about how the parents died) I thought it was a good episode. |

Oh my God, are you serious? That poor kid! I'm amazed (and impressed) that the daughter has had the ability to cope with so much - and so well. The aunt
and uncle that took them in have obviously helped her to deal with so much in such a short period of time. Taylor (I think is her name?) seemed remarkably
poised and mature for having seen so much death and violence face to face. Good on her and I hope she has a long and happy life.

That freak of an ex was obviously a kook when they showed the police interrogation of him after the stabbing incident. He should have been locked up for a mandatory 25 years after that. The twins were so precious in their love for Elmo. Elmo was precious too. |

It was definitely one of the better eps. I love me some Elmo too haha. That young lady is going to grow up just fine as will all of the kids. A deserving
family if you ask me.

I only caught the tail end of it, but I think she looks like she just drank ten cans of energy drinks or an escaped mental patient.

I know! Those bug eyes were what was haunting that house. She was scarey as hell.

I can't believe they got a new house because of a ghost. Too crazy. Wasn't there anyone else in the entire state who deserved a new house????

Sad news.
The little girl from the Oregon makeover, didn't make it. Here's the article: A warrior remembered. |

How sad about the little girl. Her family was so sure she'd be healed. They kept up hope until the very end. She was a delightful child with a great
attitude.
And Barb, I think last night's family got the house mostly for their autistic sons & the ghosts were incidental. Plus, the mom won teacher of the year so they were showing how this family gave to the community. It made for an interesting show. |

I watched this episode tonight on a rerun - I don't know how I missed it on its initial airing. What a lovely young girl she was. Her compassion exceeds
that of a lot of adults I know. It was bittersweet watching and knowing that she hadn't lived much past the airing of the show. I missed the opening ten
minutes though so I don't know if there was any kind of tribute or anything at the start. Did it start the same as any other show?
This is so sad. |

Wow - what an episode tonight. Mostly I enjoy the show (some owners do grate on me) and I truly appreciate what everyone is trying to do. There's very
seldom where I think boy, I'd like to meet that person. Well, tonight changed that. What an amazing man. I would really love to have the chance to meet
him and shake his hand. I admire and respect him and anyone who has the good fortune to know him had best count themselves lucky.
This one was a real inspiration. |

As I weeped my way through this I couldn't help but curse the mother. She left all those lovely kids with a guy who just got back from war with one leg
blown off. WTF was wrong with her? Probably good riddance.
I loved all the Marine participation. I'm a huge liberal & hate this war that Bush got us into but the guys there deserve all our respect & honor. My only bitch is how the hell are they supposed to keep the forest room clean? Those leaves will get mighty dusty in a month or so. And I always laugh when the kids go straight to the props in their rooms instead of to the awesome beds & stuff. Too cute. And I got tickled when the 2 brothers bonked heads as they were running around their room. Another good show ABC. |

The man certainly deserved a better house because of all he did for our country.
In defense of the ex-wife. It takes two to make a divorce. I couldn't help but notice that the kids were all about a year apart. Wife must have been left home and pregnant, year after year. For all we know the marriage could have been on the skids before he lost his leg. She did stay with him for a year after he came home. It also didn't say the mother was out of the picture or that she left the kids with him. The show skirted around that. For all we know, he could share custody with the ex-wife and the show just tried to make it look like he was the only one raising the kids. |

I thought that too, Fluffy. I hope no one has any dust allergies. And what about tossing toys in the air? My kids were always flipping things around in their rooms when they were little. Unless the forest is cemented into the ceiling (heaven forbid! how would you ever get it down?) those accessories are coming down! The boys in particular will have a field day with pitching practice. I wonder how long that car sculpture or art piece or whatever you want to call it on the boys room is going to last? As soon as I saw it I knew it was the latest thing in jungle gyms. And I feel sorry for the "Horton" daughter. Her room is going to be outdated in a matter of days. It's way too young for her. All in all I really enjoyed the show and I knew there would be a story or two about the ex-wife that would surface. I'm not a military wife but I'm sure it must be difficult to be the wife of a marine especially seeings the brothers in arms come first. I agree with abcdmom that those kids are pretty close together and she would've been pretty overwhelmed dealing with everything. I was happy she wasn't made out to be a villain.. I can imagine she felt very much alone but that doesn't detract from the impact the show had on me. |
