Studio 60: Now with a full season to suck!! |

So, I saw an ad for this last night. It looks like Sorkin has taken Sports Night and combined it with the West Wing to make another Dramedy. I love me some Sorkin, and the cast looks wonderful. I mean -- Rob Cordry from the Daily Show? DL Hughley? Amanda Peet? ED ASNER? The supportings are just as good as the leads.
Anyone else see the trailer/have thoughts? |

Shameless bump of my own topic....I saw another commercial for this yesterday. It made it look like my original thoughts that Brad Whitford can act may be completely incorrect. OR his character in this show is EXACTLY like Josh Limon in The West Wing.

I sat around and watched the previews on the NBC website. This and the John Lithgow/Jeffrey Tambor show were the only ones that I will check out barring excellent reviews from fellow Sucksters.

i read that this is one of the few shows that critics thought was really well done...unfortunately it's in a bad time slot, although i can't recall what it's up against...also, all the critically acclaimed programs don't last anyway.

Futon Critic gave this show 4 stars out of 4.
I think NBC has some great new shows this season - Studio 60, Friday Night Lights, Heroes, The Black Donnellys (all of which got 4 star reviews from Futon Critic), 30 Rock, and Kidnapped. A lot better than the crap they've been serving up the past few seasons (mostly lame Law & Order spinoffs). Most of the promos I've seen refer to this show as Studio 60. I guess they've dropped the "on the Sunset Strip" part of the title, which is probably a good thing. It will be interesting to compare Studio 60 with 30 Rock, although 30 Rock is a sitcom not a drama. Both shows have the potential to be fantastic. |

Obviously Studio 60 isn't going to beat CSI Miami, but I think NBC would be very happy with a solid 2nd place finish in that timeslot.
I think it can easily beat What About Brian. I didn't even know that show had been renewed for a second season. |

Oh, I think it could beat CSI: Miami. I think people are getting tired of CSI, and Miami isn't as good as the original. Given the choice between Brad Whitford and David Carruso, I choose Brad EVERY day of the week.

this should not have a problem with mnf.
men will watch mnf, and only chicks can stomach the crap that sorkin spews. no demographic conflicts at all... |

NFL games these days are 6 or 7 hours long (maybe it just feels that way with all of the commercials).
I'll gladly take time out of football to watch this show. |

MNF is no longer on ABC, it's on ESPN. And Madden and Michaels jumped to NBC Sunday Night Football. I don't say this because I think Madden is a great announcer, but Joe Theismann is 500x worse.
I don't get the premise of this show. The title reminds me of Studio 54. |

I miss the 'on the Sunset Strip' it kind of lent an air of the poetic to the title, i mean at least wait till season 2 to shorten the title
/shrug Also in my not needed opinion on the page Studio Sixty looks cooler. /double shrug Ever since I saw that 10 minute preview on youtube I have wanted to watch this one BAD. I smell 7 year drama, unless people just can't get into a show sans dead bodies and crime... |

The pilot is available on DVD through NETFLIX along with the pilot of KIDNAPPED. Mine is in the mail. It'll be nice to have an opinion on this show well in advance of the TV season. The DVR will enjoy the break.
