I've seen a couple of Monk episodes. Now hubby has seen it. We both liked it.
So, what I want to know is, did he get booted from the police force? If so, why? |

After Monks wife was killed (by a car bomb) his OCD and phobias got even worse. Apparently his wife was able to keep them under control. He could no longer function as a detective on the force, but he is still the best they have for the job, so they use him on a case by case basis.

I think there's hope for the new girl. She showed a few "Sharona-like" sparks, being no-nonsense etc.
I agree about what tour guide goes from moon rocks to the womb? And for what? What even happened in the womb that was a necessary plot twist or revealed something new about Monk? Zippo. I've been enjoying this show but it may have run its course. I found myself wishing we could watch what for us is a new Surreal Life (3) episode, although it will repeat again in the week. |

It's intriguing how so many fell in love with this show when it first started.
I really liked the first 3 or 4 episodes I saw. But after that, it became pretty clear that the plots were all kind of weak. It was kind of like a Matlock at half power. The exit of Sharona seemed to me to be some tweaking by the producers to try and save a sinking ship. But my interest is why would it seem so attractive for the first few shows when upon re-watching, none of them were really very different from all the rest? |

I think the first and second seasons were really brilliant. The third? Not so much.
Not only did they lose Sharonna, but they seemed to have lost the writing mojo. There's been an abundance of bathroom humor this season (like the diaper bit). I don't recall any in previous years. Also, Monks "bits" where he is an OCD freak just aren't as funny anymore - Tony shaloub (sp?) just seems like he's on an ego trip now. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. I think all the best writers have probably been lured away to better paying jobs. |

Best Buy has all of them mia. The problem is you can't watch more than two or three episodes at a time because Monk will drive you nuts. He's great in small doses, but watching the marathons they've run in the past has driven me to drink.

I've been married to him for 25 years. heh heh
My husband has a lot of the quirks, except the most important one ... the cleanliness. But some of the stuff Monk says, reminds me so much of the hubby. It's fun watching it with the old man. He'll sit there and go "Yeah." and "Exactly." lol It's a hoot. |

Does that mean you don't have to do any house work? That could be a pretty nice fringe benefit.
(I had a college roommate who was a "nice neat freak". She cleaned the bathroom twice a week. It was really nice. LOL!) |

I found this show for the first time late last night. The eposide looked really good and then a thunderstorm went through, so I lost my satellite for 30 minutes.
It was the cherry pie killer episode. Monk's brother's next door neighbor apparently offed his wife. They are showing this episode again in a couple of days, late at night, so I set my tivo so I can see how it ends. |

I share a few traits with Monk.
My son always says, "that's so YOU!" while we watch. the info I read said Monk's wife SEEMINGLY comes back from the dead. I'm thinking lookalike. |

Just a reminder that the new season starts tonight. Jason Alexander guess stars. Isn't that one of the Jump the Shark criterias? When the guest stars start popping up? Anyway....it's interesting how Natalie hasn't been shown in any promos thus far. Maybe they could just have Monk go assistant-less.
