Considering "our" earth has been SHOWN as existing in this universe, I think it makes perfect sense that "our" Earth is clearly in the TV show, and no one is trying to "put it" anywhere. I simply do not think we have seen it yet, outside of that one shot in Crossroads. Ron Moore has been clear that he made certain that the ruins we saw of Cylon Earth were not from any particular "our Earth" location. And I do think that the production crew is savvy/detailed enough to pay attention to things such as star fields and constellation adjustment.

It turned the series on its head. Suddenly all hope is lost and survival loses its meaning. What's the point of life when there is no hope? What I think the series finale is leading up to is a peaceful co-existence between human and cylon. Earth is no longer the endgame because without peace niether human or cylon can call any place home.

I'd just prefer it if the writers took the show to another level. Truly, I think this is happening in an alternate reality anyway. Humans started on Kobol, not Earth (or your "New Earth"). And the show had fun tying in Bob Dylan, Florida, our Constellations, etc., all apparently indicating that the Earth they found is our Earth... yet, surprise, it's a Cylon world that's only been inhabited 4,000 years (6,000?). And these Cylons have apparently been too busy fucking and having babies they'd forgotten they were machines... "hmm, could we be Cylons?" the show encourages us to ask. Of course, our history goes back more than 6,000 years... unless you're Mormon as the creator of BG was. Religious propoganda hidden in sci-fi, ala L Ron. Anyhow... we're close to finding out either way. I'm not guessing at an ending, as I've been satisfied with what the writers have juju'd us with overall. I'm just not expecting a tired cliché.

The shot of it at the end of Season 3 confirmed my suspicions, and the bust that was Watchtowercylon earth just made it more apparent to me...since I feel like they've been planning for that for a while, I don't see it as lazy writing. But who knows.

It's kind of late for that, I think. Know what would be REALLY frakked up? If they went to the Cylon home world and there were multiple copies of everyone on the ship living on the planet. I think my head would explode.

And, yes, the shot at the end of season 3, complete with Florida and Dylan and Kara saying she found it, was all supposed to be the big reveal that it exists and they're close. It just wouldn't make any sense to have Kara say she found Earth, play the Dylan that's tied to the Cylons, and then zoom out and show a completely different planet. The context of it all suggested that was the planet Kara was talking about, the planet All Along the Watchtower was coming from, etc. Cut to a season later and we're on the planet fitting that exact context, additionally matching the constellations at the Temple of Athena, it's confirmed to be the 13th colony, etc. If it's not the zoomed planet from season 3, then that zoom was just a big fake-out... it wasn't the Kara planet or the Dylan planet, despite the overlaying music and Kara's words.

I think all the signs pointed to that planet, yes, but I don't think it was the same planet that was in season 3.
