Stanley: "You said we could bring our families."
Michael: "Yes, I did. Why didn't you?". Stanley: "I did. I brought my wife. Her name is Terry." Michael: "Well, I can't wait to meet her." Stanley: "It's the person who's hand I'm holding right now." Music from Dwight the DJ: "Ohhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhh". The hubby and I laughed our asses off at that part. |

Bah, humbug it's a good thing TiVo remembers when these shows are on, since I can't. Will have to watch it later. After 40-year Old Virgin I have a renewed appreciation for Steve Carrell.

What was the award he gave to the Indian girl? Something like the hot curry award? And when they flashed to the Asian girl while he was saying "me love you long time" - that was pretty funny.
I'll definitely be watching this season. |

Why are you giving this to me? No reason, don't read into everything... |

Quote: I thought this episode was a little soft compared with last season, but perhaps it was because I was distracted a bit while watching it. My advice to the producers from last year was to make Michael more of a sympathetic character and be more consistent that this is a documentary setup and not to slip in and out of that mode. It appears from this episode they are trying to do both of those things, although to limited effect. That said it's really just minor critique on what appears to be still a great show. Dwight and the other office supporting cast don't seem to have lost a step at all. And the over compensating manager doing the awkward and inappropriate office awards is actually something I have seen in real life cubicle farm more than once. Someone said this episode was a bigger departure from the UK version of The Office. I didn't see it that way, in fact I found it a little reminscent of the Quiz show episode. |

I agree about the similarity to the quiz show ep, I'm sure they were inspired by it.
I just think the idea of expanding the confessionals to people other than the main 4 characters is a departure and frankly I hope they stop. However odds are they'll expand on that to keep the show fresh since they have so many more episodes to do that the brit version. And they need to make Michael more of a hypocrite/loser (it leads to more sympathy eventually) like when Brent was picking on Dawn for having a pipe dream, yet thinks he's a rock star at the same time. |

Wow. I just caught this on Bravo and it was really good.
Consider me a new fan. (I think I saw part of the first episode last year but I forget...) THIS is exactly why Fox needs to be showing Arrested Development on FX any time they can possibly fit it in. |

Tonight was a lot better than last week. Really funny I'd say...ANYONE ELSE?

Re: the office | ||

IMO last week's was funnier, but this week's was truer to the tone of the UK version - Michael's OTT bravado when faced with corporate, his awkward attempts to joke with the guys and desperation to fit in with "the guys".

Dwight: Where is the clitoris? What does a vagina look like?
We were like "Did he just say that at 9:30pm???" LOL Thought is was a very funny episode overall. |

Re: the office | ||

Woah, very very funny 2nd episode. Pretty edgy for network.
Sadly it does all too good of a job capturing realistic workplace settings. More excellent supporting stuff from the office workers in their reaction takes. I'm still finding Pam to be very cue-card-esque though, and many of the scenes are not believable as documentary clips. It's a bit of a cheat from the original which did stay disclipined about that. The upside is some of the bits that depart from the documentary view are so good. |
