Toby desperately pleading "Does anyone have a camera here?!"I loved that because you know that's the only time he's ever raised his voice in the office during however long he's worked there. The last thing you'd expect out of Toby.

I thought the episode was the best of the season and so strong the whole entire hour. Every storyline was pitch-perfect and the writers have stacked the deck
for a lot of storylines next season. The more I have sat on it, the more I'm fine with Jim and Pam not getting engaged. In my mind, Jim probably did it
without the fuss of cameras and we'll come back next season with them beginning to plan a wedding.
How are they gonna have Dwight/Angela next season? That last scene was amazing. I'm guessing Angela will stay with Andy publically, but will be screwing Dwight behind closed doors. Angela would be humiliated if it got out what she did with Dwight, so Phyllis has perfect blackmail. I hope Holly/Amy Ryan stays. She fit in so well and had a quality to her that I found refreshing. This show is great at introducing new characters as part of the ensemble. |

Oh God I loved seeing Mose again. Genius character but only in small doses. They're smart by not having him show up a lot. Creed trying, vainly, to
remember what he does killed me.

I agree about wishing to see more of the Ryan downfall than what we saw, but I'm sure next season we'll get to see the full extent of his humiliation.
It really was a brilliant episode. I agree with those who said the Seinfeld comparison is incorrect. What made the Kevin part so awesome is he was acting exactly how he's been since the pilot of the show. He didn't suddenly have slurred speech or anything. Loved Michael and the new HR person, Mose, Phyllis standing up to Angela and then catching them banging. So many gems this episode. September can't come fast enough. And GIAE, just scroll past those posts. It's not worth your time. :) |

Heh. Not gonna happen. Anyway, I loved the finale. My only quibble was Pam's attitude after Jim didn't propose (like Jim would propose after Andy proposed to Angela). It didn't ring true - especially since Pam doesn't like having her relationship with Jim compared to Andy and Angela's). Seemed like sloppy writing and a potential setup for sitcommy shenanigans between Jim and Pam (which I don't care to see). Ryan's firing did happen a little quickly, but Oscar's confessional made it all worthwhile. The line about Ryan's beard being the real problem had me rolling. And the Kevin-is-retarded bit was too brilliant for words - a perfect plot. I'm not sure if the writers felt that they had to give us more of Kevin in previous episodes to set this up perfectly, but it was well worth the wait. |

I'm watching an old episode of Punked where they get DJ Qualls and it occurred to me that he could've been good as Dwight; he kind of has the same look
going on as Mackenzie Crook

PAPAYOKE wrote: I agree somewhat. I'm not sure she had an attitude necessarily, but she was just disappointed. She really thought it was going to happen (and she was
right...it was going to happen). I could feel her sadness. How much longer does she have to wait after Jim's fake proposals? She doesn't even realize
Jim has a ring, but we know he does and bought it a year ago. My problem with that sequence was having Andy propose to Angela just to thwart Jim. The writers
could have written something better as a way to post-pone Jim asking Pam.

Concerning the money, I'm saying there wasn't enough. Jim only paid for the fireworks, hence the joke where the fireworks are being set of and
they're overshadowed by everything else. That leaves Michael paying for all of this crap and he couldn't have had enough to pay for ferris wheels,
etc...let's not even go into the ridiculousness of all of that stuff being arranged and set up on the day of.
The Michael reading cards thing still just doesn't make a lick of sense. 99% of the episodes have him stuttering and backing down/trying to cover up something he said that was offensive, hurtful, etc...we're led to think that he's not going to slink into a comfortable mode such as that when trying to impress the HR girl but instead is going to read off of obviously spiteful cards? Come on. |

I hope the writers don't start a whole cycle of Pam/Jim not being together, doubting each other, etc. C'mon-this is not some lame show like friends.
(not to offend anyone who likes friends, I just hate it tremendously) LOL@Michael singing 'Goodbye Toby', and doing that little sideways dance in he
opener.

I'm really starting to dislike Jim. I'm so tired of him worshiping Pam. I know a lot of people think Jim and Pam are perfect for each other, but
it's like he puts her on a pedastol. and ever since they've been together, Jim hasn't been as funny or as likable of a character. He's kind
of a tool now. And buying the ring a week after they started dating? I don't care how much you "love" her...that is weird. I used to love Jim
and think he was one of the best characters on TV, now he just seems like kind of a dick and too obsessed with Pam.
Also, why is Jim SO scared of getting fired? He could probably get such a better job and strive to do better than Dunder Mifflin Scranton. When he gave up on Pam, he had higher aspirations for himself. Now he just wants to be the run-of-the-mill sales guy at a lame paper company. And part of it is because of Pam and Jim's history at the office, he can't imagine their relationship without it. It's kind of pathetic really, and Pam is holding him back (though it's not her fault, he's just a dumbass) |

Actually, I'm pleased to see some people are turning a more critical eye to the show. The slavish praise even when the show was clearly off the mark, in a
way I think does more harm than good. I don't think anybody watches the show because they hate it and just comes here to bash it. It's just unfortunate
that the quality is inconsistent, and it's disappointing to see certain things when we know they're capable of so much more. It's one thing to
expect viewers to have a suspension of disbelief but OTOH there's no reason this show has to devolve into totally outlandish characters running around in
completely unrealistic situations - there are and have been thousands of sitcoms like that over the years. But setting up an amusement park in the parking lot
of an office building where maybe 20 people work? It was an unneccessary backdrop. They could've still done a big going-away party that was more realistic
and still had the same hilariously awkward moments.

kitty white wrote:Right. But if someone likes an episode, they should be able to post it. There shouldn't be judgemental posts mentioning how wrong it is to praise the episode or scenes of the specific episode. Same if an episode isn't up to quality. Everyone has a different opinion and sense of humor. SurvivorErin wrote: I think it was because he wanted to be employed when he proposed to Pam.. He mentioned in last week's episode that the engagement is something he wants Pam's parents to be excited about and they may not be so enthusiastic if he lost his job. Even if it was temporary, he comes off as unstable and not being able to take care of her. That may be why he wanted the commission of the sale so bad and tried to keep his job...it wasn't necessarily for himself, but for Pam. Otherwise, I don't think he'd give a shit if he was fired. |

I liked how Michael was making a mixtape within 5 minutes of meeting the new HR woman. The part of "crash into me" where it goes "Hike up your
skirt a little more And show your world to me" was plying as he asked Jim for advice. Very, subtle, classy and completely appropriate Michael
The thing with Michael and the Toby cue cards was funny. You know Michael mentally rehearsed/fantasized those hundreds of times before. But since he hates confrontation(eg the "reprimand Stanley" episode) and wanted it to be perfect, he wrote it all down. then the desire to lay into Toby was countered by not wanting to look like a jerk to the new girl Pam's "actually I think Toby's kinda cute" line will end upwith a Toby restraining order |

SurvivorErin wrote: I think Matt310 addressed your second paragraph pretty well. As for the first... I don't think he's "obsessed" with her. Everybody's different. It's not like they JUST MET and a week later he bought the ring.
They've known each other for, what, like five or six years now? And he's known that he loved her for at least two. He was probably just so psyched
when they got together that he went out a bought a ring. I mean, it's pretty much a sure thing done deal. Even if they HAD just met, I mean, people do
fall in love like that. One of my best friend's parents had a blind date, were engaged the next morning, eloped a month later, and are still together 25
years later. Maybe you think it's creepy, but they seem pretty happy together. Maybe his character isn't as funny as he used to be, but I don't
think he's just a "tool" now, either.
