Yeah, after the SOUTHLAND debacle, I have to watch torrents, but fortunately I can watch HD video from my computer to the big screen with the picture looking
as sharp as satellite HD, so yay!

Awesome premier episode. The season looks great. Wish there was more of an audience for one of the best written/acted shows on tv!!

Great episode, chock full of storylines that have amazing potential for the season.
Felt so sorry for Matt having to set aside his dreams to be a caretaker - what a hideous disease. Riggins is just so . . . bad boy hot. From the previews, it looks like his storyline will be great. I was kind of surprised that QB1 turned into such an ass so quickly. I felt sorry for him last year, but I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in this case. Although he is a royal pain, also felt sad for Buddy being so marginalized by the dirty duo. That is going to be one of the more subtle, interesting storylines of the year for me just cuz his character is spot on for people we all know who are former football heroes who can never step away from that time in their lives. His loyalty to Dillon football defines him and his struggle with that loyalty in the face of Wade and QB1's dad, will surely be tested. Loved, loved, loved Mrs. Coach's "Tails" and "Receive" calls. She is a spunky lady and although she is currently (and from the previews going to be) under seige, I think she will kick some ass later in the season. Awesome show! Can't wait for more. |

I agree with EVERYTHING Montaname posted. I'll add a few....
it broke my heart that he had to forfeit the game. I could see that he was proud that the guys did give 100% and even though they were busted up - they were all ready to go back for more. Clear eyes, full heart, can't lose! <-- that is really gonna make a difference over here at East Dillion. I am so glad Tammy put Landry at East because he has heart and he brings that with him! Him being the one to finish the motto with "cant lose" was awesome! I like the new Vince guy. Is he our new Smash? I also loved the West Dillion coach coming over to East Dillion. I love Julie coming over to East Dillion too! I hate what those assholes are doing to Tammy. They are making her be the enemy with all the rezoning. Shouldn't this be a Superintendent's issue? I hated that the whole town was screaming at her like that. Glad coach kicked that also off the team. I hope he comes back with a better attitude. I dont really want him to be a thorn in the side for the team. Always starting shit with them.. Are we supposed to spoiler tag this stuff???

christy1018 wrote: No on the spoiler tags. Anyone coming into this thread now should expect to be spoiled if they are not watching on DirecTV. The fact that his team was ready to go back for more after that ass whipping was a victory in itself. After all of the bullshit, Coach finally has a team at East Dillon. A pretty shitty team, but something to build from. I loved Tammi's fuck you to that new smarmy Panther coaching crowd. Try to fuck with Tammi? "Have a nice game, boys." |

I am so in love with this show, it has this ability to make you feel every characters emotions. Thank you FNL gods for keeping Taylor Kitsch, I am such a
sucker for a bad boy :p Loved the 'super-fan' assistant coach, he made me lol and wow, what a contrast showing both games, looks like our Coach Taylor
has a long road ahead of him to make something special out of the East Dillion football team :)

I hated that he had to forfeit the game but I loved how he had seen enough to know the kind of team he had, that they were willing to go back out and kill
themselves even though they were going to lose. I do want to smack the pee wee coach in the face, but he's happy just to be there so you can't hate
him. It was awesome when Matt's grandmother told Landry to stop throwing and called him a "funny looking creature". If you are a NFL fan did you
notice that the cop at the beginning that brought Vince to see coach was Nnamdi Asomugha from the Oakland Raiders?

I just watched online. Great show! I love me some Tim Riggins! And new guy, Vince, used to be on All My Children, the only soap I watch. Great job, so far!

Totally forgot about Mr. Pee Wee! (I need to go back and watch again.) Yea, the guy would make me crazy in real life, but he added a comic element that the
heavy material needed and I found it to be funny. He could be an interesting character this season.
The change in school gives Landry the opportunity to step up and be a real leader and I will love seeing that. I liked the singing chick. She is sassy and funny. Will they pair her up with Riggins since he already did her mom? I really wasn't into Julie during this episode and we barely got to see Graciebell, except when Coach kissed her good-bye. With any other show, you could write the season ending with East against Dillon in a championship game and East being the victor, but with this show, you never know. The basic issues they are dealing with in this show this season are so timely because during these days of budget shortfalls, so many districts are struggling and cutting back funding on athletics. But while some older schools are having to deal with a shortage of district funding along with changing demographics and the monetary problems that come along with that, there are other newer schools in the same district whose booster clubs make sure that those kids don't have to do without a thing and have only the best. Makes me crazy and this show mirrors that. It isn't realistic that Mrs. Coach is taking all the heat for the boundary changes since those decisions are made by the board of trustees, but whatever - makes for a good story. |

I agree with most of what you said Montaname, except for one thing: I think the Board, knowing how pissed parents will be at the rezoning, has consciously
decided to make Tammy the scapegoat. In my experience, that wouldn't be so shocking. The world is full of people who happily make the decisions that change
peoples lives but don't have what it takes to stand up in front of a crowd and defend those decisions. Bunch of pussies. Also, I wonder if they aren't
trying to get rid of Mrs. Coach, and this is one way to achieve that goal? Or so they think. I think it's just going to piss off the Mrs. and she'll
dig in her heels.
We shall see. Shaping up to be a great season. LOVE the heart demonstrated by E. Dillon so far. |

Loved the new running back Vince. I wanted to reach through the screen and throw QB1 in the pool myself. I think it'll be another great season.
My only request is that posters spoiler tag anything from future episodes that haven't aired yet. Once they air, I agree it's fair game to post about them. I'm going to watch online and stay away from this thread until I see the new eps. But I've avoided reading spoilers for this show from the beginning and it's been a great way to watch. |

I do have a question about the whole redistricting thing, they probably mentioned it last season but I forgot. Was East Dillon open the whole time and just
didn't have a football team, or is the first year it has opened up again. It it wasn't open wouldn't everyone have gone to Dillon, or were these
people bussed to another school?

Loved the ep!
This is the best show on TV right now. On East Dillon, I think it'd been shuttered some years ago -- it was certainly never a live high school in the previous seasons, or we would have heard about the rivalry. My sense is with the population growth, they needed a second school (and weren't there subsidies from the state involved?) and re-opened it. There may have been an undercurrent of racial segration if recall correctly -- East Dillon being the black school and original regular Dillon being the white. Once desegration cam through, I guess just built a new regular Dillon and had everyone under one roof. Tammy's rebellion over the coin toss was the funniest moment she's ever had -- and she's had plenty. That syrupy have a nice game y'all spoke louder than some drunken skank yelling FUCK YOU on a Rock of Love type show. What I particularly liked about the ep was the cinematography. Look back at how bad the field is and especially the locker room at the half with everyone sitting around shellshocked. I didn't know wheter to be depressed or laughing at how woeful things have become. Excellent football sequence, too. That is ironically enough something this show messes up on. |

Piranhahaha wrote:That's what I thought, but then why didn't any of the people at East Dillon play for the Panthers last year. Only one kid told Landry he was on JV last year. The truth is I don't really care because I love the show, but I'm curios. |

Oh -- 'cuz Buddy and the Panther elders gerrymandered the redistricting line to keep the top local players at regular Dillon. Remember that sequence in the
Applebee's last year when Coach walked in on them basically doing a fantasy league draft?
I guess Landry and the JV kid weren't among the top picks. |

<3<3<3<3<3<3<3 THIS EPISODE!
Julie: I am going to East Dillion with my frands! k bye! *Julie leaves* Eric: SAY SOMETHING! Tami: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Tami and Connie Britton so much <3<3<3<3<3<3<3 wth! WHY DID THEY TURN JD INTO A HUGE DOUCHEBAG? ugh, I really like Jeremy Sumpter and I hope they don't abandon his abusive dad storyline. I do find it odd that Sumpter was not promoted to series regular but a bunch of random newbies was. EVERYTIME YOU INTRODUCE A NEW BLACK CHARACTER THE POLICE HAS GOT TO BE CHASING THEIR ASS!!!!! |
