Booker...err Nelson Damnit, It seems like ALL TV shows have to be about everyone now, and all races, ages, and faces. A focused drama about only people who live in Texas and only about football games can't succeed because not evvvverrybody lives in Texas or likes football. I might be wrong but I'm a bit angry and trying to make a point. Anyway good show, nice football footage.

Ugly Betty is the only show that has scored really high numbers. Heroes, Shark and Brothers & Sisters are doing pretty well too. Other than that, pretty much every new show has been scoring lower than expected numbers. I think The Nine has a chance at being the highest-rated show of the season, but then again I've been wrong about most of my ratings predictions so far this season.

It doesn't have mass appeal not b/c it takes place in Texas or is about football but b/c it's clearly a teen oriented show and seems based on previews, Dawson's Creek the football edition and Dawson's Creek on a regular channel, opposed to the WB would not have done well.

And apparently they didn't do a good job of appealing to any of them. The show needs to decide whether it wants to be a sports drama or a teen soap opera. I don't think it will work as both.

Of course, they might as well cancel it then. Because (duh) many people who would like this program will actually be out experiencing the Friday night lights of their own high school football games.

Kyle has no personality in this show, and he has had a personality in every other show he's done. He is so damn cute, but this show is one of the worst in a while. I want to cry because I wanted Kyle to have success because he was so good as McBomber dude on GA last season. Why they killed him, I'll never know. He could always have a twin.

The show was very predictable. After all, they couldn't hope for the goal of seven seasons by focusing on one QB in his senior year. So, they had to promote the "underdog" junior QB and make the story about his coming of age. The first epi had a lot to do with football. But look for subsequent epis to feature hot sex and romance in a small town with big city morales. It could turn out to be a good show. I think it will be modelled after some of these evening soaps. After all, most of the women were quite interesting. The main story line should revolve around the gf of the drunk and the new QB. I'd like to see his coming of age by "growing up" together with her. Even better would be MY coming of age by "growing up" with her. What a babe!

But that game! The cliched "bring in the third-string QB who doesn't know his ass from his elbow, and even though they've been pushed all over the field for the entire game WITH the number one player in the country, now that he's gone they can still pull it together and score 20 points in the last two minutes" Hollywood bullshit just made my blood boil. That's what I liked so much about the movie, that they didn't go that route. I'll give it another try, but I'm not expecting much.

(and yeah, why don't one of y'all come in and comment about how the accents are off. god i love that kind of criticism about any show. unless you live within 100 miles of this bumfuck town you wouldn't notice. not just this show, any show. trust me.) good production, no-name cast, can't cost that much to produce. hell its up against "dancing with stars", that kind of shit that will always win the numbers (and if i'm a chick... football or dancing... football or dancing... gee, i wonder what i'll watch.) unless ncis kicks its ass it will make the season and i will watch ever ep. if only to watch the coach's wife. damn that chick is smoking hot. i seen her before (24 the last time i remember) but she is the shit. y'all can swoon over them skinny cheerleaders, i'll concentrate on how she can wear a pair of jeans and them low cut tops...
