That new show that comes on after monk (Psych) is looking pretty awesome so far. Likeable lead character, Dule hill shows his comedic chops and the rest of the
supporting cast is awesome. I love the premise as well.

Maybe you should change the title of this thread! I was looking for a thread about Psych, but passed this by...
I'm glad I decided to check just in case. I think the show is pretty good. I'm loving Gus. I'll most likely watch this every week after Monk-which I never miss. |

just watched the pilot, it was great! i hope the rest of the shows are as good

This was surprisingly entertaining. From the commercials I wasn't sure I'd like it. His buddy cracked me up.

I was trying to figure out who plays the female detective. Both IMDB and the USA Psych site say it is Maggie Lawson, but I just don't see the resemblance.

well I dont know her at all either but yeah, she doesnt look anything like the female detective, imo. But they showed some clips from later shows during The 4400 and it looks like maybe they switched the actress. Which would suck cos I liked her (the one in the pilot).
Does anyone else get a Ben Stiller vibe from the main guy (James Roday)? |

Yeah, he was channeling Ben Stiller quite a bit. I wasn't able to get into this show, so I think I'll drop this. I watch too much TV as it is.

I'm not sold. It had flashes of brilliance, but other parts of it were so formula-matic and unoriginal. The whole buddy-buddy cops/private detective (one is fussy, the other is manic!) has been done to death.
But Monk has been jumping the shark and how many more times will we essentially see the exact same episode of Dead Zone? (last week he saved a disaster at a traffic jam, essentially the same episode as the one on the airplane) I am not sold yet, we will see. |

I love the fact that Dule sold his partners ass out when he was supposed to be the decoy. Hopefully they are not going to go the romance angle between the psychic and the female detective, because it seems that way.

I saw it for the first time last night. It was alright. Took me about halfway through before I started getting into the characters. It's not must see tv ... yet. It has possibilities.
His actions during his fake psychic visions are a little over the top. He needs to tone that down. |

I don't like the stereotypical annoying police detective. They should make that character a bit smarter rather than a bumbling, annoying fool. Seems like a really hollow character that the writers didn't spend much time thinking about.

Did that guy even have a line last night? All I remember him doing was handcuffing the guy in the first scene and then standing there at the spelling bee. Oh, and it looks like he is going to have a "girl of the week"
