For some reason, South Park and Lost draw the most "OMG, I haven't watch this show since this one time 4 years ago, but I watched the middle third of
this episode and it wasn't that great" people.

I think that happens with a lot of shows...

The reason why South Park is so great -- it can start as an obvious parody that then somehow becomes both a tribute to a Shirley Jackson short story and a
shout-out to the 1970s Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Believe me...this week's will go down as one of the ten best episodes they have ever done. I am a New Yorker and I didn't even see the Spitzer
connection coming-BRILLIANT!

That was this season's obligatory "not terrible, but inarguably forgettable" episode.
- They did their best with the topic, but it wasn't going to yield any goldmines; kids actually do huff feces now and there's not much further South Park can go to make over-the-top satire out of that. - About forty people saw Heavy Metal. Granted, all of them are probably the kinds of people who watch South Park, but that entire level of comic parody is going to be lost on the rest of the crowd. However, more people saw Heavy Metal than the Lord of the Rings cartoon or the King of Kong documentary, so it's not that bizarre. - The Spitzer reference seemed tacked on and grossly miscalculated. There was no underlying point to it, no satire (which we'd expect from the show), and the talk shows have long since sucked the entertainment value out of that entire ordeal. But it still had Butters so it was automatically funny. |

I loved this episode for SO many reasons.
One, I remember tripping on acid and going to see Heavy Metal. Two, I posted an article awhile back on kids doing the choking thing. Three, cat pee in the face is just fucking funny. Four- Kenny hungover Five-the Spitzer connection Six-Cartman hiding all the kitties a la Anne Frank. Priceless. |

The Cartman-turned-Schindler's List bit was classic SP irreverence. Kenny tripping out and freaking out over "spectacular boobage" was the cherry on top. |

The Boobie Metal world was amazing!
I need to watch it again, because that made me laugh enough to miss a lot of the other scenes. |

The Spitzer reference was kinda lame. Just showing something topical without actually....ya know, a joke about it. But the eppy was overall good sauce.
<3 Cartman being cat Schindler and the sandbox fight was classic. |

I think the first episode was much more forgettable than this one.

Oh no, we're not going to forget an episode that bad.
