Did anyone else watch this new show on Fox last night? It's about a nasty, mean spirited and possibly drug addicted doctor solving medical mysteries. It stars the brilliant Hugh Laurie, and he was wicked good. I'm not a CSI watcher, and I felt some of the close ups into the patient's nose and through her body were a bit much, but the characters show real promise. One of the producers is Bryan Singer, and he directed the premiere.

Definately watching TAR.

I saw it. I thought it was very good and showed a lot of promise. Clearly, this was pitched as a combo of CSI and ER, but they did it in a compelling way. They dropped the ridiculous melodrama that you see in ER, and concentrated more on the medical procedure like CSI does with forensics. Plus it has Omar Epps, who I've always thought was a talented and underrated actor. Based on the pilot, I'd definitely recommend it. Here's hoping it continues to be good.

See, I wasn't that impressed. I had really looked forward to it, as I think ER jumped the shark a few years ago. But the main character was too much of a loose cannon, which seems pretty unrealistic to me given today's medical regulations.
Ehhh, I'll probably give it another chance. |

I would gladly snog with Hugh Laurie, in a nanosecond. I've had a mad crush him ever since his Bertie Wooster days. Sadly, the show itself disappointed me. I taped it while I watched TAR, and it kind of looks like I made the right choice.

I just watched this... taped it and watched TAR. It was ok, but not all it was hyped up to be. I'll tape the next episode again and give it another shot.
It was interesting to see the chick from The Craft do something again, and to see Omar Epps do something other than the hood movies he was always in. |

Has anyone been watching this? Since TAR was on an hour early last night, I gave it another shot. This episode dealt with a schizophrenic woman being treated by her 15-year-old son. She was diagnosed with liver cancer that her psych medicines were covering up. Ultimately, it was determined that her previous docs misdiagnosed her schizophrenia; she actually had Wilson's Disease.
This show is pretty good and we'll be watching it again. I like the Dr. House character, and I hope that I have a doc like him (just a little nicer) if I ever get seriously ill. Of course, since this is a Fox show, it will probably be cancelled next week, or be put on the shelf once American Idol returns. |

I have been watching this on my timeshifting from the west coast. Often it is on in the background while I am doing something else but I do enjoy it.
I am dissapointed I missed the end of the nun one though. It looked interesting. All in all not a bad show. The head woman at the hospital annoys me though. |

The boss lady played a woman with a penis on Ally McBeal. Dr. House looks like Michael McDonald from MadTV. He's annoying but I do like the show.

Quote: It had one of my favorite lines. The Robert Sean Leonard guy asked House at the end how the nun was doing, and he said "Oh, you know how nuns are. You take out their diaphragms and they perk right up." I'm getting a little tired of the same plot lines (sick patient; doctors make him/her sicker before determining the proper treatment), but will never tire of Hugh Laurie. He is amazing, and the only reason, I think, to watch it. |

I'm surprised more people here don't watch this (not that I watch regularly - it is up against TAR, after all). Apathetic asshole doctor seems right up everyone's ally.
Brandy guests on tonight's episode. |

I'm actually watching this show and recording TAR.
HOUSE > TAR. |

I always watch TAR and record this (I like being able to watch with no commercials).
I love this show, I think it's great and wish my docs were as inquisitive as House. Despite the similarities of every episode (a mystery illness, House does his investigation, no one agrees, he gets in trouble and then saves the day), I think they do a great job with the storylines. |

Great show, flying under most people's radar, I think. The time slot is definitely a rough one.

Last night's episode was my favorite. The writing in the scene with House and the musician talking about only having one thing, and what's left when that's gone - heartbreaking.

I watch it weekly. Brilliant. |

Re: House | ||

I read recently that it was renewed for five more episodes (um, whooppeee?) - which apparently is a good thing. Maybe after AR ends next week it will get a few more viewers. I would think that the AI lead-in isn't that great - people will be too busy dialing to watch.

From what I understand, the ratings aren't as atrocius as those of some other great shows that FOX murdered *cough* Firefly

I hope they don't let this show go... I love it! Best medical drama out there.
Gotta agree that the time slot sucks though, which is why I think it is flying so far under most peoples' radar. |

Re: House | ||

I haven't enjoyed a medical drama in ages, so HOUSE is a breath of fresh air, even if the episodes have the same bent, which is understandable.
