Re: Rachel Griffiths | ||

David and Keith's relationship is very easy to relate to. Think about it. Both seem like they want more or something better but when they are apart and date others, they realize how great and comfortable the other is in comparison. That is so like most relationships. Of course, you have to keep in mind that most relationships do not last for the long haul.

I agree w/pseudo re: having Rico get the 'honor' of being the opening eppy's CORPSE!
...or maybe David and Keith will just corner him and force him into a homo 3-way!....(that should 'maybe' rub that smirk off his face-or make smile ) |

Re:last episode | ||

Id like more post-therapy now I understand why you are driving me nuts scenes with the two of them cooking-- --how about the petty hassles all couples ( gay or straight) deal with such as getting ready to go out? grocery shopping? planning a dinner party?
landscaping choices? biorhythms? Also, why not give Keith a really important stressful job so he doesnt have all that underdog stereotypical stress? Then he and David could be on equal footing and be competitive about whose troubles get the first hearing? Maybe he could become the security chief of operations for an important state politician? Also. in the preview--does Ruth mean Kathy Bates character when she asks how long too wait before calling for the next date? Does she have a crush on Kathy Bates character? Does anybody think Ruth will also get addicted to Vicodan? Rico may be headed for a meltdown work rage if that conversation he had with the dead shooter is relevant--when Rico said sure I get mad at work but I yell or put my hand through the wall--I dont take a gun and shoot people--the shooter said--you just dont know what you will do when it gets really bad at work-- But, where the hell does Rico get off anyway acting like he has all the know-how and experience that the brothers do in dealing with clients? Is it because of his financial share? Still. -- |

Re: Re:last episode | ||

In defense of the direction of Rico's character, he was made justifiably bitter because he felt he was doing 9/10ths of the work and was being taken for granted. In many respects this was an accurate assessment, and as a result he developed a love-hate relationship with David and Nate.
Now that he finally got a taste of power he is letting it go to his head and is having trouble concealing his built-up contempt. On one level he is rightly trying to establish new working boundaries, refusing to take just any orders, and is resentful when David and Nate still treat him like the hired help. On another level, with this new sense of entitlement comes a newfound sense of superiority since he did, afterall, have to force them to admit how valuable he was to the business. But I think he will slowly start to see that David was far better at his job and did a lot more than he initially gave him credit for. This will probably make him rebel even more because his ego will not be able to accept that he doesn't know best. I can see where he is going to be a pompous prick but begrudgingly he will have to admit over the course of the season that maybe he isn't as smart as he thinks he is. So don't give up on him yet, it'll be great to see him eat some crow! First ep was weak, but things are definitely beginning to take off. Ruth and Kathy Bates' character are bound to have some interesting "Thelma and Louise" moments ahead, and yeah, there seems to be a foreshadowing of "taking it" to some kind of next level, sexual or friendshipwise. I'm guessing Nate and Lisa are being given 4 eps to flesh out their relationship's strengths and weaknesses, positives and negatives, before Hurricane Brenda arrives to tear it to shreds. It won't be as black and white as Brenda-good/ Lisa-bad. The writers are too good to allow Brenda to win in a cakewalk. It's difficult to watch Keith and David because it has the tell-tale signs of a relationship that is dying a slow, agonizing death. While an honest portrayal of a couple desperately grasping at straws, it is nonetheless tough to watch. I keep expecting Keith to start beating David and out of dread feel like switching the channel when they come on. Still one of the best shows!!! ITA |

Quote: I believe the dead shooter's response to Rico was "...so far..." Which now seems to apply to everyone, not just Rico. We/they all may be just one incident shy of going postal at any time, while we walk through our days polite, adult, reasonable looking people. Witness quiet Ruth: "I'll break your arm if I have to!" The scene where Lisa says she has to wash all the clothes again. Nate quickly says "No you don't" and takes the clothes from her calmly to wash them himself...but the underlying feeling was that he was about to explode. Rico comes home to a bitching wife after a hard day. Begins to yell at the kid...but instead sits down and puts his arm around him. Keith telling David, "you know we're going from from day to day" (in their relationship) leaving David with the awful truth right in front of his eyes. Claire realizes she's being used by yet another irresistable loser, starts to crumble but catches herself midfall. Sometimes we can choose to go along to get along. (Nate & Claire) Sometimes we can choose to let it all out. (Ruth) And sometimes others make that choice for us. (David) But Rico seemed to be the only one who understood the power of the choice. Rosanjin Scholar could have written this much better than I did, but I think I made my point. |

Could someone clarify just WHAT was Nate doing in his car as he parked on the road as he arrived home?
(to me it looked like he was gunna 'toss off' in the car) .....just wondering how soon b4 Ruth and Kathy Bates 'do it'. |

I think he was jacking off.
I hope that Catherine O'Hara is gone forever. Her character was retarded and had not point. I only hope that she has a meltdown and kills Lisa to get back at her. Lisa is a cunt. She can't even let Nate watch television and makes him do her retarded shit all day long when she doesn't do shit all day except for be ugly. Cunt. And why do the writers make Rico insufferable one episode and then normal the next? Claire is a whore and will hook up with her teacher. David and Keith are booooooring and what is the point of the chorus? |

Thank god someone asked the jack off question. I definately thought he was.
I do think the arc this season is testing you to the point of implosion. What is going to make any of you/us finally lose it? As for bdelery, I have always thought you have some type of ADD issues and perhaps someone who has these problems should not be watching a show that demands the rigors of constant attention and intellectual firepower. |

I don't have ADD but I like Six Feet Under and Law & Order. Sometimes I watch or tape CSI. I am not big on sitcoms.

This second season seems to be all about people being pressed to their limits. Indications are that most of them are heading for an explosion of some sort, hopefully putting the pieces back together by season-end.
This may be a series where death is a central and recurring theme, but a positive ending would provide a proper balance. IMHO |

Quote:Nate slept with Lisa after he told her of his AVM diagnosis. Brenda left town, so she doesn't know they're married. Nate is not over Brenda. Great 2nd episode. I agree that the David/Keith relationship is painful to watch. Does anyone think he David might hook up with that nice guy in the choral group? Rico is such a richly-drawn character. I thought it was an interesting touch to see him unsure of how to comfort a grieving mother - though he is superior to Nate (and probably David) in the technical aspects of his job, he still has things to learn. Though it's nice to have a few Brenda-free episodes, I can't wait to see what she's like when she comes back... |

Okay, Nate went upstairs alone and when he came back down he had changed shirts because he got a stain on his first one.
Then, hes really eager to make a late-night run to the store alone. So, does this guy have a jacking-off problem now? |

I thought Nate changed his shirt because he smelled like pot and didn't want Mom.. er.. Lisa to scold him. She also commented on the listerine. We used visine and binaca, but whatever.
So.. what does Brenda need to talk to Nate about next week? She's got HIV? She's PREGNANT!?!?!?!?! I hope I hope I hope! Everyone in this family is too happy, time for a total disaster to knock them back into despair right about now. |

Claire's storyline is so laaaaaaaaaaame and boring. I didn't even pay attention until her friend (whatever his name is) wasn't gay. All of the scenes with her and her teacher were zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Last night's episode was great. I can't wait until Brenda comes back because it will probably be the end of that cunt Lisa. what a fucking bitch. Shut the fuck up about your fucking Whole Foods and go do your own shit, you whiny cunt!! It was hilarious when David was talking about his pubes. |
