'Twas an ok illegal download............a bit cheesy, but that somehow makes it more appealing because it doesn't take itself too seriously.

I found the concept, the execution, and just..everything brilliant. I've been craving something dark, but not too light. If that makes sense. Nip/Tuck can be dark, but reinforces some goodness in people and some...lighthearted humor. Dexter just seems like a spiral into the heart of evil and creepiness and back out.
Michael C. Hall, perfection. But of course, he knows it. Awesome acting. I do LOVE it when conventional morality is warped. Is it wrong for him to be doing what he's doing? Is he messed up? All questions worth pondering. |

Well, i just caught the premiere. This show is very good but it's kind of disturbing to watch and root for a serial killer. I found myself cringing in some scenes but I couldn't bring myself to turn away just because the show is so well done. Definetely will keep watching, it's good that these cable channels put good shows on TV without having to worry about the content, especially when it's this good.

We have free Showtime this weekend, and I finally caught Dexter. I called Charter. New subscriber here.
This is so much better than anything on HBO. |

It always seemed like heresy to me to say that I always thought Six Feet Under was overrated - especially the actors who played the mother and daughter, so I never voiced an opinion on that. As a matter of fact, it might be easier to say that the only actors whose work I really enjoyed were the ones who played Rico and his wife. I thought they did a great job.
And I never knew what to make of Michael C. Hall - until now. Given his work on Dexter show, he must have done a fabulous job on SFU. When watching SFU, based on his performance, I was certain that he must have been gay irl. But after watching Dexter, I see that was just a really stupid assumption. Watching MCH on this show, the only thing I feel sure about, is that he is a great actor. What a performance! He comes across as really creepy and evil - nothing at all like his character on SFU. AAMOF, his portrayal reminds me of the guy in SFU who kidnapped and tortured David. What an amazing turnabout! I did some searching and found his bio web page on IMDB that says he is married to Amy Spanger since 2002. www.imdb.com/name/nm0355910/bio What an amazing realization! I must be a real fucking idiot to have held onto my prejudice so tightly. I was certain he was gay because I know someone who is gay and he had almost exactly the same mannerisms. It never occured to me that he could have just emulated those mannerisms because he is a great actor. At times, I can be a real fucking imbecille! I just hope someone will toss some compassion my way. |

I found the David character on SFU the most interesting. I always liked his storylines. The other characters had a few I didn't really care for. And I always felt that his acting was the strongest, even though he was rarely singled out for it like some of the others were.

Michael will always be the gay uptight brother from Six Feet Under to me.

I didn't have Showtime until I saw the promos for Dexter, so a silly question, how many episodes does Showtime consider a season (It seems like HBO thinks a season is 6 episodes)? I saw a longer preview last night for the rest of the season and it looks like this season will encompass both books. If so, will there be a second season?

I was wondering how many episodes there'll be, too. That preview for upcmoming episodes sure had a lot of info, though!

I watched the first episode the other day. It's one of the best new shows of the season.
The writing and the acting is superb. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea though. |

I finally watched this the other night as well. I loved it. I really loved Michael C. Hall in the role of Dexter. I've missed him since SFU is over. He looks hot to me when he's not playing a gay older brother. (even though I loved David)
So, Showtime is the new HBO with its great shows. (Weeds & Dexter) F-HBO anyhow-(Carnivale cancelling cocksuckers) |

Quote: I only wish SHOWTIME could promote like HBO. Brilliant series like SLEEPER CELL and season 1 of BROTHERHOOD came and went with barely a peep. DEXTER is definitely the best new series on TV and I found myself anticipating this week's episode almost as much as an episode of THE WIRE or THE SHIELD. |
