New season: 2009!!! "Weeds" will continue to grow at Showtime. The network ordered a fifth and sixth season of the comedy series about a drug-dealing suburban mom (Mary-Louise Parker)

I saw the first episode to this on ON DEMAND last night! Pretty damn good. Is SHOWTIME actually starting to make good TV series this time around?

Kevin Nealon was on Leno tonight promoting this show. His suit pants were kind of tight and he really looked like he was packing. He is not a small man. I had never noticed before.
I smell a forbidden romance between Nancy and the son of the lady she gets her pot from. It would suck to watch this show and have no smoke. Seeing it on the tv and all........... |

I'm loving this show. I knew Mary Louise Parker would only sign on to do *good* T.V.
Now..the problem lies with Showtime. Can they be consistent with good writing throughout? They had a decent start with some basketball show years ago and then promptly ruined it by mediocre writing and constant time changes. Then they were horribly inconsistent with Dead Like Me. Cast changes, great episodes mixed in with bad, loss of direction.etc. I'm hoping they can maintain the high standards they've set with the first two episodes this go-round. |

I love this show so far. It warms my heart to hear them talk about White Widow on TV, even if it still is cable. Celia's daughter - aka "Shit Girl" fucking rules.

Just caught Episode 3 and am downloading Episodes 1 and 2 for my Replay TV.
Pretty funny. Loved the part where the deaf girl painted the son's balls blue, and then the maid thinks that he fucked a Smurf. I know Kevin Nealon is getting rave reviews but I thought he was just a bit over the top in this episode. The one I loved was clearly Elizabeth Perkins. Pure, pure evil. And the daughter's revenge was PRICELESS! |

I can deal with this show but it's basically pretty contrived and stupid. First of all, that buyer's club was totally unrealistic and how come she didn't know she was getting schwag which they called "skank" (who ever heard that term) but somehow Kevin Nealon was still like "this is some premo shit"???? Didn't seem to make much sense. Also, I don't care what show it is or what's it's about, they always misrepresent black people. The family she buys weed from is so off somehow and the "Mammy" character is just sorry and cliche...
If you really smoke weed, I mean put in work on the block smoking blunts upon blunts for years of your life (I'm not bragging, trust me, it's just what it is) then you realize that the novelty is totally gone, it's not even a real drug! It's not clandestine and exciting, and it's not "cool" It's just weed! Make a show about coke or something, weed is so mainstream it's silly. |
