Letterman's looking for a way to retire, and this is it.

Palin attacks Letterman again: joke was about "statutory rape"Jun 12, 2009, 08:14 AM | by Ken Tucker Categories: News, Television Gov. Sarah Palin told The Today Show this morning that she continues to be offended by David Letterman's joke "about the statutory rape of my 14 year-old daughter." Interviewed by Matt Lauer, Palin referred to Letterman as a "so-called comedian" and said his humor "erodes a young girl's self esteem."
Meawhile, last night on the Late Show, Letterman made one joke in his opening monologue about the ongoing
controversy, saying, "I think everything's fine now: She called and offered to take me hunting."
Palin's remark to The Today Show suggests she still doesn't get the idea that Letterman's self-admittedly
"cheap" joke -- that during a Yankees game, "her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez" -- had nothing to do with rape, nor was she
buying Letterman's premise that he wasn't referring to 14 year-old Willow but to 18 year-old Bristol.
Lauer cited a remark from Palin's spokesperson: "It would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman." "Are you suggesting David
Letterman can't be trusted around a 14 year-old?" Lauer asked.
"Take it the way you want to take it," said Palin. "It's from the heart." Lauer then asked, "But is that [comment] also not in
bad taste?" "No, it's not," said Palin.
What do you think? Has this controversy gone on long enough, or will it continue?

The sad thing is they KNOW what he meant, and do not want to admit it and have twisted it into this thing about statutory rape of a 14 year old. I agree with everyone that KIDS should be off limits. But when they are 18 years old, then it's fair game. It's like when we talk shit about Idol contestants and we cannot (and should not) say anything sexual about anyone under 18. Once they are of legal age, then it's fine. The fact they are still talking as if Dave was talking about a 14 year old girl is ridiculous. |

Just beacuse some writer on the show didn't do the proper reaserch, or more likely knew it was Willow at the game and didn't care, dosen't change the facts. Maybe Dave should have said Bristol by name, but he didn't. He left himself open for this. BTW: Dave still hasn't apologized to the Palins, only that the joke was in poor form. |

Since this whole ridiculous thing happened he has clearly stated and anyone with a brain can understand that he did not and would never talk about sex with a
14 year old. Christ.

Palin's daughter became fair game once she decided to appear on the cover of People Magazine promoting abstinence with a picture of her
'knocked-up' child.

Letterman hasn't gotten this much publicity since the chin dude took over Carson's show. If this Palin chick is trying to hurt him, she's fucking
up big time.

Could Vicconius BE a whinier faggot? How sad is his life that he gets up in arms over someone making fun of his beloved lord and savior Dictator Palin that he
has to cry about it on an internet messageboard?
I mean, this is the same guy who sends unsolicited pm's to women asking for their pics, so, I guess its not that surprising. |

The jokes weren't even funny. Can someone explain to me why Bristol Palin is getting slammed so much by the MSM. I didn't realize that promoting
abstinence was such a crime against humanity. As someone who voted for Obama and usually rips the right, it's pretty appalling how far
"progressives" have gone to destroy Palin and her family. All we heard throughout the primaries is how "family was off-limits", but as soon
as Palin gets the Vice nom., it's open season on her whole bloodline.

The reason the joke is funny* is that it insinuates that Sarah Palin has no control over her underaged children.... which we all know is kinda true. It's
actually more of a slam against Sarah and her parenting skills than those poor kids of hers.

The Republican scum-machine (i.e. Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity and the rest of the Fox News) are reporting this as the big story, and conveniently omitting ALL
talk about the rise of right-wing extremist killings going on lately.
Because, we all know that an abortion doctor killer and an 88 year old man killing people at a Holocaust museum is WAY less news than what a late-night talk show host accidentally said about someone's daughter. And one more thing.......Anyone SEEN Willow Palin lately???? You don't want your daughter mistaken for an 18 year old?? Dress her like one, mom. That girl looks as much like 14 as Janice Dickinson. |

Licorice wrote: X That's exactly why I maintain the joke is funny whether it's about either of her daughters. And how ridiculous is Sarah Palin to be making a fuss over a lame JOKE anyway? It's not as if he were making a speech at a college graduation or at some other event and was serious. It was a JOKE, people! A JOKE! Are you telling me there hasn't been any tasteless jokes made about the Obama family by right-wingers? Are you serious right now? THIS is what the right-wingers have decided to take up as their cause for the week? Pathetic. |

Palin's hated him for a long time for some reason, he offered for her to appear on the show during the primaries and she would decline. It's obvious
that he was referring the the daughter who did get knocked up. If Palin and her daughter didn't want to be made fun of, she should have watched her
daughter better.

Palin's presence on the planet is a joke unto itself - and should be mocked at every opportunity available
Speaking as a woman, who was raised in a conservative family during the feminist era...I am MORTIFIED by her existence! The sooner she and her skanke-tastic she-spawns toodle on back to the trailer park from whence they sprung, the better!!! Dave saw the obvious - and accurately commented on it I have no qualms with any of it! |

If she would have said at the beginning that she found the joke offensive and let it go at that, then she would have been rigth and people would be on her
side. The fact that she has kept it going and basically called Letterman a child molester hs turned things away from her. This illustrates that she is too dumb
to handle a higher office and it shows how dumb her staff is
