I don't think Dave's hot for Sara Palin. I think he knows a joke about her will always get a laugh or garner attention cause she's such a
polarizing figure. Haven't people been talking about this for a week (a week to long if you ask me...)? And Palin isn't exactly one to let things go.
She also loves to ride the media machine long and hard! These people know exactly what they're doing it no matter what side of the fence they sit on.

azcanadienne wrote:I only put that in my profile after Obama said it before the election... it could use some slight modifications... "Bible-thumpin"- I've been to church three times in my life (not counting weddings), I'm neither Christian nor Catholic (but not atheist... I believe in.... something) Far from a Bible thumper. "gun-totin'"- that seems to imply a singular gun.... I have many, and I always carry one. (except when I'm working...I'm ex-military, what do you expect?) "Pennsyltucky redneck"- I've recently moved to a small (less than 6,000 population) Pennsylvania town to "retire" and teach high school Mathematics. But I was born in "da BIG city" And to say something slightly on topic.... Dave needs new writers. And a question: In my profile, there is no "joined date" like everyone else seems to have. I that due to the "big reset button" being hit so many years ago?

Hopefully, by the time the next election rolls around, Governor Palin will still be able to see Willow's virginity from her house.

TheManInTheYellowHat wrote: And you proved the point I hoped you were going to prove. Thanks for being so obliging. Nowhere in my post did I indicate support or lack thereof for the current action in Iraq. I merely stated that the American public, all of us but primarily through the politicians we send to Washington, have a duty not to put soldiers' lives on the line except when it is necessary. Did you disagree with this statement? Perhaps you think soldiers should be deployed anywhere, at any time, for any reason. And Americans owe a duty of unquestioning loyalty and support to those who sent them there. Now, since you mentioned Iraq--my problem with what happened is that the military was sent in by people who have NO CLUE about the culture into which they sent them. And they had no clear objectives, and no clear exit strategy. I literally cringed when I heard some in the administration talking about how our troops would be welcomed by adoring crowds, and how a democracy would simply spring into being when given then chance. I knew that what would happen was exactly what was going to happen--as far as I'm concerned, the only correct decision that was made was to put Petraeus in charge because he knew what to do in that culture. Had he been in charge from the get-go, things would have been entirely different. Your post also reflects the bigger problem in American politics today. Namely, that there is no room for nuance. That my opponents do not merely disagree with me, they are evil. |

I would be willing to bet that our definitions of "necessary" are vastly different. the military was sent in by people who have NO CLUE about the culture into which they sent themWrong again, the CIA and some Air Force Intelligence personel were in Uzbekistan 5 months before 9-11 working with elements of the Northern Alliance trying to find BinLaden. We were well versed in Afghan culture. We were also planning the Iraqi invasion for longer than you think, we knew EXACTLY what we were getting into. I literally cringed when I heard some in the administration talking about how our troops would be welcomed by adoring crowds, and how a democracy would simply spring into being when given then chance.I cringed too... but that's what we needed to tell the media to keep up public support. You were duped... we knew EXACTLY what we were getting into. Had he been in charge from the get-go, things would have been entirely different.I agree completely. Back to Letterman... do you think there will be a Palin joke in tonight's monologue? |
