I am very excited for the new season of Ugly Betty. Hopefully we will get lots of Marc/Amanda and Willi and Claire and less of Betty's love life which I really don't care about.

Moo- If Becki Newton was with her would you have been as shy/polite? Please tell me you would have mauled her. ;)

Holy shit, I just saw that Grant Bowler aka the host of OzMole is going to be the new CFO of Mode/Meade (not sure which) and is a love interest for Wilhelmina.
WTF?! This show is CRAZY.

I was completely underwhelmed. I thought for a premiere it was shockingly mediocre. But I still love the show and will stick with it. The realism of the New
York settings was nice.

I too was underwhelmed. I love this show so much, but I just sat here watching it and not being very interested in what was going on. I don't know if
I've lost interest in general, or it was just a very uninspired episode. The changes really didn't work, or at least didn't draw me in.
The previews look a bit better, so maybe it'll pick up. Otherwise, I will be disappointed because this is one show I really always looked forward to watching each week. |

I'm glad it wasn't just me. I read somewhere over the summer that the show, or the network, or someone had felt the show had become to flamboyant and
over the top. Well, if this is any sign of what drawing back looks like - bring back the camp. It's what made me fall in love with the show in the first
place.

I don't like this Daniel Isn't At Mode So He Doesn't Wear Suits thing!!!
It was a bit disjointed, as the show is repositioning itself....I am still a loyal viewer. |

I've always found Daniel surprisingly unattractive for a prime time male lead. But tonight with his sportswear and his facial scruff... he did something
for me.

this was an okay episode for mid season, but dind't have the premier oomph at all.
Betty should really have a roommate(s) - its an excellent opportunity to introduce some weird character or two. and umm... Jesse the loud music guy is gay. how can she not tell. |

Very predictable. We all knew Betty wasn't going to choose either guy and would go off on a trip by herself. The second she accepted the apartment
without looking at it I knew it would be a dump and also knew that everyone would end up pitching in at the end to fix things up.
I never wore braces so I'm wondering. Just how long does a person have to wear them? I know, I know it's what makes Ugly Betty well ugly but shouldn't she have had them removed by now? |

Yes, Ugly Betty has been consistently losing steam for me. It was predictable that Betty chose to take a trip by herself. But I was really disappointed
she totally cut things off with Gio ("I don't like you THAT way). Bummer, I enjoyed Gio on the show and enjoyed their chemistry together. They
should have played out the "Sam & Diane" between them longer.
I figured each season there would be subtle changes in Betty, getting less Ugly, and growing into her own skin and cleaning herself up a bit. First of all, those braces should have been off by now. I think they've gotten bigger. Also, Betty was really looking chunky and fatter. So, she is biking around on her trip and she gets fatter?? I know the point is that ugly is pretty, but seriously Betty needs to spruce up a little bit since the beginning of all this since she is working for a fashion magazine in NYC, for crying out loud. Okay, that rant is over. Daniel at the head of the horn dog male magazine is being totally wasted so far. So many possibilities for him and all they are doing is running around like a bunch of 13 year olds in the office with his French Boy son playing pranks. Meh. Now that Willy is heading up Mode, she lost all her fire and true evil-ness. Now it's just too put on. She has to take down Hot Flash? Dumb. The scene at Regis & Kelly, super dumb. Now the only good coming out of the scenes at Mode are Marc/Amanda. Ignacio working at a fast food joint, again, dumb and boring. I didn't enjoy the "old rivalry" thing with Lohan & Betty. Ignacio should be a sous chef or prep cook at a local restaurant, since he's established as a great cook, so he can work his way up to a head chef eventually. New apartment plot - predictable and lame. New love interest/neighbor for Betty - Ugh, why bother? VERY disappointing. More Marc & Amanda and much more Justin, please. |

I was bored. There was too much Betty in the premiere. I don't hate her, but everything she's involved in is just boring. I don't buy that she went
on this grand life adventure by herself and returned home totally unchanged by it. I realize that apartment was her first, but, honestly, how stupid do you
have to be to sign a lease on something you have not laid eyes on? And it's just common sense that if an apartment is occupied one day, you cannot expect
it to be perfectly clean and ready to move into the very next day. How old is Betty? She's got to be 23 or so, right? She is too old to be that stupid.
Maybe I am being too optimistic.
I was so annoyed with Betty, I couldn't really enjoy much else. I do not give a shit about her romantic entanglements and am not looking forward to yet another one dominating the storyline. More Marc/Amanda! More Justin! More Hilda! More Christina! More Wilhelmina being evil! More Claire! Less everyone else! |

That apartment was not that bad! Fix the roof, paint the walls, bleach the fridge, it's done. Everything has to be a VERY BIG DEAL.
And cut Daniels kids hair, PLEASE. I get a Celine Dion vibe from him. ewww |

I loved the premiere tbh. It felt like a good welcome back to me.
Of course, I am not a primadonna with high standards for everything either. |

I am somehow who has ALWAYS given this show the benefit of the doubt when lots of people were complaining about how boring it was, etc. I think many of us DO have high standards for this show because generally it had always risen to those standards. For a premiere, there was no real POW to it. The general consensus is that it fell pretty flat last night. My mom (who is 74) said to me on the phone this morning that she thought it was kind of boring last night and she was disappointed. I told her that I felt the same way and she was glad because she thought it was just her. But then again my mom is a primadonna, so that might not be a good example. |
