One of the strengths of the final episodes of The Practice was Rebecca De Mornay...where is she? Her character became a main focus during the introduction of the new firm and was a definite highlight.
The show is pretty good so far. It's what I expected but does anyone find this to be Ally Mcbeal without the dancing and unisex bathrooms? |

DEK said it'd be more AB than TP so I wasn't surprised. Loved the new characters especially Mark Valley. I do want to seee Monica Potter's character get more fleshed out though.
Loved Sharpton's surprise caemo. Very Denny. Spader & Shatner have amazing chemistry. Very impressed. |

I too figured De Mornay would have a prominent role, but apparently they chose to cast the poor man's Julia Roberts (Monica Potter).
I have to admit, the whole episode I had the song "Black Betty" in my head, but instead of Betty, I was singing whooa, Black Annie, wam a lam, whooa Black Annie! I'm an awful person. |

It is like Alley McBeal meets the practice with a bit of fat sitcom husband and hot wife (here we have three fat ugly male lawyers and three hot vixenish female lawyers) thrown in.
I doubt I will be watching this again. |

I agree with most and feel it was a mix of "Ally McBeal" and "The Practice."
Although James Spader and William Shatner are amusing, I do feel like we seem them a LITTLE too much and it might be too much of a good thing that wears thin after a while. I HATE the Lane Brook girl. Not only is difficult to look at, she isn't that good of an actress and her character is pretty one-dimensional. I would like to see them flesh out Monica Potter, Rhona Mitra, and Rene Aburjoinous' characters a little more. I'll probably watch a few more episodes and decide if it is appointment TV. |

It is obvious that it is no "Practice"..I could tell there will be nothing serious about this show. Agree about Ally McBeal..especially when they keep going to the same bar after work..wasn't Ally sleeping with someone in the Firm as well..gee, original. This is definitely not another "LA Law" or "The Practice" ..just hope they don't start singing oldies.

I will continue to watch this if only for the sheer genius of Spader. They need to Shore each episode a lot and then I will not get tired. One of the great tv characters created in current years; I just hope they do it justice with this show as they did with The Practice

I was happy to see Monica Potter in the cast. But I do miss the bitch that Rebecca De Mornay played. She really balanced out the show. Still, glad this show is on. Is it just me or are the 2 hot chicks on this show a little masculine looking. I know Rhona was the British Tomb Raider model and is sexy as hell. But if you cut her and the other girl's hair, without makeup they look like a couple of dudes. Just an observation.

I found this show to be totally condescending to the viewer. Enough with the ridiculous lawsuits. It's a rip-off of Ally McBeal, and I hated that show too.
I liked Spader on The Practice because he added some sparkle to a very serious show and cast. Now, he's just one of many looney, one-dimensional characters. It's trite and just tired. |
