Exactly. After all of the empty promises of Veronica Mars and Arrested Development movies, I just rolled my eyes when I read this.

What they said. I'd love it if it happens, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for it.

My newspaper has an entertainment Q & A column, and today someone asked about Jericho. They said one of the producers told IF magazine that a movie is in
the works.

Wow, you Jericho fans are clinically insane.
I love Jericho and it's a shame it got canceled just when it started to be excellent, but if you seriously think that some network will bring it back or a studio will make a Jericho movie you're either delusional or dumb. Serenity proved to the studios that it doesn't matter how much the fans are devoted, what matters is the number of fans. And don't give me that "it made a profit with the DVDs". Studios release pictures to movie theatres because they expect them to make a profit during screening, not by hoping to break even with DVD sales. It doesn't matter thought because even with DVD sales, the only way a Jericho movie will break even is if the budget is 10 million dollars (which doesn't include promotion costs). What's more funny is that it seems that Turtletaub is more delusional than the fans: It's crazy," says Turteltaub. "I think they're airing it because it's cheap and there's still that feeling that it hasn't really gotten all the attention it can. When I think about the fact, a repeat of JERICHO on CW actually has more viewers than an episode of MAD MEN, you realize the difference between cable and broadcast, you realize the difference between what the press is watching vs. what America is watching. And I bring up MAD MEN, because it's a brilliant show. But it's still fun to see the show won't die." O.K, keep telling this to yourself. Oh, just to let you all know, last week Jericho averaged 683,000 viewers, and 3 weeks ago it averaged 627,500 viewers. Mad Men averaged between 1.5-2 million viewers this season (I don't recall the exect number), and it's first season averaged around 900,000 viewers. Remember that Mad Men is shown on AMC, a relatively small cable network and that Mad Men is its first original show.

At the half-off Circuit City everything-goes-except-the-walls-and-they're-negotiable sale today, I found Jericho, Season 2 and I'll finally
get to watch the alternative ending.
See?? I waited until it was half price. Clear evidence that I am not clinically insane. |

March 1, 2009 - Today, at the final day of San Francisco's WonderCon, the news Jericho fans have been waiting for since the series finale aired last spring has finally been spoken -- a Jericho movie, and
possibly other Jericho-related projects are currently in the works. Sitting on a panel for the upcoming CBS serial-miniseries hybrid Harper's
Island, co-executive producers Dan Shotz and Karim Zriek, veterans of Jericho, were asked the fated question at the end of the
question-and-answer segment with the audience. Will there be more Jericho, or won't there be?
Well, there's reason to rejoice, because the struggle between the corrupt company Jennings & Rall and the tattered remnants of the American government might not be over. "The Jericho movie is in development," spoke Karim Zriek, continuing, "there's going to be announcement probably this coming week, not about a Jericho movie, but about another avenue which we're going to continue telling the Jericho story." Confused? Don't be. It appears that more than one avenue is being investigated for continuing the story of America's nuclear demise and subsequent civil war. But as for the movie, specifically? "We are seriously talking about a Jericho movie," Zriek assured the audience, though "nothing is finalized yet." Dan Shotz added, "we're trying different avenues to keep the story going, because Jericho fans are great fans." Stay tuned to IGN for more details as they emerge. |

JERICHO IS COMING
BACK.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
AS A COMIC BOOK DEVILS DUE PUBLISHING & CBS CONSUMER PRODUCTS GIVE NEW LIFE TO FAN-FAVORITE TV SERIES JERICHO WITH NEW COMIC BOOK SERIES CHICAGO - March 5, 2009 - Devil's Due Publishing (DDP) has announced a deal with CBS Consumer Products to publish a new comic book series tied to fan-favorite Jericho, the one-hour drama series that garnered critical acclaim and ran on CBS for two seasons, from 2006-2008. The series centered on the residents of the fictional town of Jericho, Kansas in the aftermath of nuclear attacks on 23 major cities in the contiguous United States. The comic book series will pick up where the television program left off, answering many questions for its passionate fans. DDP has teamed up with the show's creators and producers to develop an authentic story that will hit comic book retailers this fall. Jericho fans are some of the most dedicated in the world of television. In 2007, devotees to the show produced by CBS Paramount Network Television rallied together to bring back the fan-favorite which was initially cancelled after just one season. The show returned for a seven-episode second season, but was not renewed for a third season. While fans received a little more closure with the end of season two, there were still loose ends that could be addressed. "Jericho is alive and well, thanks to the amazing fans who've driven us to find new and fresh ways to tell the Jericho story," says Dan Shotz, Co-Executive Producer of Jericho. "Josh Blaylock and the DDP team are great partners and have shown a true love for our show. We are so thrilled about this comic book series and the endless possibilities for the future of Jericho." Joining Shotz in developing the comic book will be most of the original creative team including Jon Turteltaub, Carol Barbee, Karim Zreik, and Jon Steinberg. "I can't tell you how cool it is for DDP to be able to continue the Jericho story in comic book form," says DDP President Josh Blaylock. "We plan to give fans the story they've been craving. This is going to be epic stuff." |

I'd rather let the show die than see it back as a comic book (or graphic novel if you will).
Feature film or bust!!! |
