I liked it! I read your comments that it might be a little trite for a post-nuclear thing, but in light of 9/11, I think they were wise to lessen the absolute horror of the possibility of a nuclear attack on the US. Yes, it is possible it could have been made more graphic, but I truly believe the writers were smart not to.
Im looking forward to the next couple of shows. I'll hold out final judgement until a couple of eps have passed. |

It's a good premise, but likely on the wrong type of network. "Lost" is the one exception out there of a far out show that the major networks haven't managed to get killed almost immediately. "Jericho" sadly did not get the push "Lost" received before its premiere, granted competition was very weak on Wednesday night - results show for DWTS and premiere of more great big, huge fat people in skimpy clothing.
Can a serialized version of "The Stand" work, I'm not sure. I hope so, but I think this may be "The Nightstalker" part 2 (or is that 3). It will have its devout followers, but likely get nixed far too quickly. CBS should stick this on Saturday night at 9 or 10 up against no other regular programming, give it a full season, and see if it can find a decent sized audience. |

A Saturday time slot for ANY show is sure death.
I liked the premiere episode, as it was fast paced and held my attention. I'm sure future episodes will probably start to drag. I will also admit that I wasn't quite ready to have Gerald McRainey's voice in my head so soon, but at least he's not a total prick in this series. :lol I give it at least two more episodes before the town starts to become a haven for wandering refugees and all hell breaks lose. |

Watching a second time I was amazed that it never drug (dragged?) one bit. I was riveted all over again, and the whole thing felt so damn FAST.

I think Gerald McRaney has done too many Lifetime movies. His character comes off as really corny and cliched. I wish it had been his character that stumbled into the prison bus and not the sheriff.
Other than that, I really think the show has potential, even though the writing stopped quite short of brilliant. Sometimes the script for pilot episodes is overworked, though. |

i agree with everything you all have said. some things didn't make sense (the gas thing, sleepy head, bus making it in time) and that it was very fast. it has my attention but i will be very upset if they do what they did to invasion. the end of the first episode had me wondering what that lady was looking at. anyone know what she was looking at?

The sheriff was shot, right? Maybe the black guy from St Louis will end up taking over as a lawman. I am rewatching it and at the spot where the sheriff is blowing him off right now about how to disguise the car.
I did not recognize simon and simon guy as the mayor. Wow, he has not aged well. He used to be HAWT. I recognized the gal from kindergarten cop, she is a good actress. Is the son who came home in the service? Special forces? CIA? That didn't get answered tonite. Also, I found it strange that they lost power hours after the initial attack. Another complaint, they would NOT have seen the mushroom cloud from KANSAS if it hit denver. There are at least 200 miles of NOTHING to drive down I-70 from the state line to denver. |

I followed your link SI and finally figured out why I never got innertube working. I didn't realize you have to select the player you want to use (Media or Real). Once I got one selected, the video came up. DOH.

It used to give me all kinds of trouble. For instance if I chose WM, it froze after the first segment.
However, they totally redid the site last week and it works much better for me now. |

I liked it. I found it to be much better than Smith. I was sorely disapointed in that.This kept up a good pace and it had characters I really could grow to like.

Loved it. I found it fast paced and somewhat suspenseful. I'm already interested in some of the characters and for a pilot, that's pretty good.
I'm assuming that the dead birds are a result of radiation. I'm pretty sure the chick had mentioned earlier that she had house outside of town. The dead deer were also out of town. I like the premise, not only do they not know what's going on around them (for sure), but they may have trouble venturing out too far to investigate. One part that I think they could have left out ... I have a bad feeling that some radioactively disfigured criminal is on the loose now. If so, it's not needed, but I'll reserve judgement to see how it all plays out. Oh and if they pull an "Invasion" or "Threshold" on this one, I'm not watching TV EVER AGAIN! |

I thought the timing was screwed up. Like, it was dark all of a sudden when Jake and the kids were walking to the school bus, even though it was light when the kids found him. Also, they had a flashlight.
The teacher going to pick up her fiance was weird timing, too. The note said his plane was landing in Wichita at 10:30 a.m. What time did she leave town? The sign at the beginning said whatever town = ____ miles, Wichita = _____ miles and KC = ____ miles. Without re-watching it, it seemed like the town was quite a ways away from Wichita. Why was it dark when she started hitting radiated birds? (Creepy) Also, why would the bus have been running low on gas if they were on a field trip? I guess one explanation was that the gas tank was leaking from the accident. In retrospect, lots of things are niggling at my mind. I can't believe the teacher on the bus wouldn't have dragged (drug?) herself to the back of the bus to check on the little girl whose throat was closing up and not able to breathe. And if MY kid was on a field trip and there was a nuclear bomb, I would have been out trying to find the bus myself. I certainly wouldn't have been real calm after hours and hours had passed and it was now dark out. |
