Wow, it has the potential to be one of the better shows next fall. IMO, the pilot was one of the best I have watched in a long time. There was one thing that bugged me. <Spoilers> On the bus, why was Jake (?) sleepy all of a sudden? Also, the bus being short on gas wasn't as 'edge of seat' as I would have liked. It just didn't seem to make me feel worried for the kids. Then after that, the bus pulls into town? Just felt a little out of place, and not enough stress in the situation to make the scene worth while if the bus was not going to run out of gas. Other than that... </spoilers> ...I friggin loved it.

The producer, writer and some of the stars were there (lenny-the black guy, skeet, Dale (kid), the school teacher, and ashley scott-the ex-gf). They stated that radiation will come into play but it will be an interesting take on it. Lenny obviously has a mysterious reason for showing up in town two hours before everything happens. They hinted that Dale the kid whose parents died) will either be a really good character or turn out to be evil (surprise surprise). The crux of the tale will be how the survivors learn to live, from making energy, to food. They will be determining other surrounding towns' survivors. there were MANY MANY comparisons to Lost and they were all rebuffed by the cast and crew. There will be no supernatural dealings, it is just about how the survivors live. In real life: Writer - Chobosky or something like that - pretty cool, very personable and friendly, seems to have the most input of writers Producer - Turtletaub - funny as shit. he is sarcastic as hell as well. One person asked why lenny was the only black guy. turtletaub said they will find a town close by and all the inhabitants will be black. skeet - he was boring and moody. Only smiled once the whole time. everyone was kissing up to him about some show called miracles. asked about a miracles movies, he said it was originally intended to be a movie starring james caveziel but then it was turned into a tv show and he jumped at it, no movie in the works. dale - was pretty amusing. he started the @#%$ site for the movie. think it is www.@#%$.com/stuckinjericho ashley scott - was MUCH prettier in person than in the show. very hot. "leaked" the obvious three-way between skeet-her-teacher. Said she only took the job so she could make-out with the teacher. teacher - very cute. funny too. had a great laugh and seemed to be the second youngest one. lenny - actually british. seemed kind of stuffy and didn't seem to want to be there.

Tonight (bored as fuck at work) i stumbled upon the yahoo television site and they had the first full episode. I'm like... whats this show? Went into it without knowing a thing and actually liked it. Sure they could cut out some parts (like the predictable and typical speech by the mayor to the stereotypical overly worried parents) and stretched the escaped con(s?) bit more, but thats not what sold me. I enjoyed the mystery of who the con was, his background, and how he may try to blend in(?); the wise mysterious black guy the "small town's people" are hesitant to take advice from, Skeet and his 5 year absence, and the the kid Dale. Everyone else is just a part of the story that will play out, but these 4 (to me) are key and far more interesting. 'Vanished" can take a few lessons from this simple pilot. Not everything has to be high tech and in your face mystery/twist every 5 minutes!

I'll watch it, but I'm not going to get too invested. This show has 'cancellation' written all over it. Seems like a lot of the new shows this season are going to have an uphill climb when it comes to ratings.

I remember how much press it got when it came out. It won a bunch of Oscars. Anyone look at it recently? Wow! There is one piece of shit that sure doesn't hold up. I guess TV writers and directors should stick with TV.
