this particular woman was told that she could probably never have kids because she'd had radiation and chemo as a child. then she and her husband tried for
years with no success. when she was in her mid-40's, she got pregnant, but she was always overweight, so no one noticed a weight gain and she never missed
a period. they didn't even lighten up. she knew she felt "funny" but never for a second thought she could be pregnant. then one day she started
having labor pains, her husband rushed her to the doctor, and whammo - baby girl.

I don't know about Catholic churches, but, as an older child at an Episcopal church, we went to Sunday School when the adults were in the church service.
That could explain the older children's absence.
The dedication at the end of the show was to Christopher Allport. I didn't know that he was the actor who played Pete's father. He died in a an avalanche while skiing in January. |

I would take Ken over Sommer any day.
And is it wrong that I think Peter is a hottie? And Draper definitely does it for me too. Actually most of the men on this show are smoking. Sterling, Ken, Peter, Draper, Paul... all totally doable. |

i thought it was pretty clear that only one of them babies was "the state deemed crazy" peggy's, being raised by "others". * lost shout out * and it's hard to tell if joan was being racist in her comments to paul's girlfriend... that "you can drive up in your station wagon and shop in the store" could be a racist knock, or maybe just an extension of peggy's "i just realized, you're trying to be kind" type of comment, this being 1962 and all. either way, the rest of that conversation was pure jealous/chick/ex hate talk. and that knows no racial boundaries. that's what chicks do... see the comments as different, connect them... whatever. only weiner knows, and that was definitely a weiner written scene. (my take is the beginning "kind" joan's bitch took over at the end, and those comments would have applied to any chick.) what is clear is that sheila was the best person in the room in that scene. "i love your purse." rising above paul's pretentiousness and joan's bitch. <3 sheila.

Loved Pete's arc: losing his real father and looking support from father figures at the office. Vincent Kartheiser was all that.
Definitely think Peggy was institutionalized/committed and was in denial about her pregnancy. The girl was petrified when she looked into see her baby (and I think she only had one baby). It's only been two years. I'm starting to dislike Betty though. Her harsh comments about her son's "dishonesty" was obviously all about Don, and while she has every right to be pissed off with Don (she either knows about his infidelities or worse, that he's not really Don Draper), she should not project that on to her son. Hell, you can smell the destruction of the relationship between mother and son. How fun was Joan vs. Paul? Don't let the curves fool you. Bitch has plenty of sharp edges to go with! <3 (Sucks that this show isn't available in HD until Monday). |

This season's Betty reminds me of the women form the 70's that decided to get divorced when their kids go off to college because they never really
lived life.

They could be children she had before working for the madison ave. agency. They looked way to young to be that other lady's children, she looked old enough
to be Peggy's mother, her children would have been teenagers.

Peggy's sister did not look too old to be the other kids' mother (especially since she looked much younger than the woman playing Peggy's mother). Why even bother making a big deal about Peggy's pregnancy in season 1 and now if she'd already had kids 2 or 3 times before? It also doesn't make sense that her very Catholic mother would somehow be okay with her having all those children and not raising them, okay enough to brag about Peggy's job to friends and family. |

She looked matronly, but not necessarily old. Maybe it's the hair and clothing that's fooling you? I think there's no way in hell that Peggy has
more than the one child.
