Cops/prosecutors make judgement calls on which offenders they are going to go after. Every person who gets caught smoking pot does not get necessarily get arrested/prosecuted. That's the way it works in the real world. And it's not like they even caught him doing it, they weren't even there. Anyway, the larger point is that the "war on drugs" and pot in particular is a waste of taxpayer's money and takes the cops away from going after those rapists and child molesters you mentioned. The drug war is a colossal failure. It only benefits the privately owned prison industry.

That said, if Phelps wanted to protect his endorsements, he should not have been smoking pot at a party, he should've done it in the privacy of his own home or hotel room with close friends only. But I am glad he did get caught because it has brought the stupidity of the war on pot into the limelight. Half of the American population has smoked pot, including our last two presidents and our current one. It's time to legalize it. I wish Phelps would just tell his corporate sponsors to fuck off, but of course he would rather have the money.
