To defend Sherri just a little, she does admit that the issue is one that she struggles with, and I find that to be an honest answer. Today Joy lost points when she said she didn't want to talk about it anymore, like she was bored with it. She said it was like abortion and the argument could go on forever. Boofuckinghoo...she never got tired of talking about the presidential election after 3 minutes.

I am a hetero & a Christian, but I have been without an actual religious affiliation for years, because I cannot stand to sit in a church or a Bible study or other religious meeting and listen to hypocrisy & bigotry toward gays and other individuals. I am 100% for gay marriage and don't understand how anyone can say that adults who are in love and want to commit to each other shouldn't because of their sexual orientation. True Christians should realize that we are all children of God and equal in every way. How is "marriage" considered so sacred for heteros who don't even take it seriously? You see hetero couples who abuse each other, cheat on each other, marry for reasons other than love & true commitment. That is okay, as long as it is a marriage between the opposite sex? Ridiculous.

I also am for gays being able to adopt and having every right any other person in the world has. If you are a caring person and want to make a child's life better, how can that be considered wrong? All children (or anyone) want is to be loved and cared for.

I would trade my abusive childhood living with "married" Catholic-turned-Mormon parents (mother a prescription drug abusing, bi-polar, violent, extremely cruel & sadistic woman/father who took jobs that kept him out of the house for months at a time & who turned a "blind eye"), "Christians" who stayed married "for the sake of the children" until we were grown. If Christians wanted to ban anyone from marrying and raising children, it should be people who are cruel and have no love & compassion in them to give. To have been raised by two loving,compassionate PEOPLE (or ONE loving & compassionate person), would be a blessing for any child.

There is enough hate & ugliness in the world, to deny rights to those who only want to share their love with another and live peacefully and happily is just wrong. I will never understand how a true Christian or any human being could have hatred or ill will towards another. Christians aren't supposed to judge and consider themselves above or superior to other people. I hope it will sink in at some point. I know what the Bible says,but I also know the Bible was interpreted over time by humans who are flawed and have their own agendas. I will never believe that God would turn away someone who lived a good life, because they are "gay." It's what is in your heart and soul that makes you a good person.

Time to get off my soap box and have another glass of wine. ;-) I'm a pro-love kinda gal; gay or straight, love and compassion are beautiful things and should never be suppressed.
