You know, I don't blame Elisabeth for not being able to articulate like an experience political pundit/debater on this show. First of all, it's not like Elisabeth was hired to be the right-wing conservative spokesperson for this show. THIS SHOW IS AN ENTERTAINMENT TALK SHOW, not a political, hard-hitting news program. I actually feel for Elisabeth, because she basically has been pushed into this position trying to articulate her views in politics in a show where everyone else is against her. I'm actually surprised she has been able to function as it is and has not quit yet or walked off.

In the last few years The View has spiraled into a political forum where you have crazy menopausal Joy and formerly borderline psychotic Rosie attacking from the left, Elisabeth pathetically trying to articulate a cohesive sentence on the right, and ALL of them being condescending to "young and ignorant" Elisabeth at every moment. Personally, I couldn't take it and I have to admire Elisabeth for sticking to her guns and trying to make a point (whether it is a point I agree with or not). Elisabeth is just as entitled to her own opinions and views as every one of those other ladies.

If Elisabeth had debating experience, maybe she would be able to make profound and informed statements to back up her beliefs. I think she is just grasping at straws trying to hold her own when it is 3 against one -- all three of whom pull the "we're older and wiser, so you just need to shut up and listen" card on Elisabeth.

Personally, every time Barbara would put her hands on Elisabeth this morning to stop her from speaking, it infuriated me. Why? Because I am not one who would sit and allow someone to touch me in a condescending way the way Barbara does. I would have turned and grabbed Barbara's hands, pushed them away and told her where she could put those hands.

If Elisabeth could have formed a good response to Whoopi's statement that "Palin, who would he a heartbeat from the presidency, has NO EXPERIENCE," right after Whoopi spent the last couple of minutes on her recycled "Nobody can claim to have experience as a president until they have been president," Elisabeth could have made a statement back to Whoopi, "But according to you, Whoopi, none of the four have experience to be President yet, so why just take issue with Palin's inexperience?"

Anyway, my point is, The View is not a news program or political program, it is an entertainment-based talk show that was supposed to 4-5 women of different backgrounds, ages, beliefs voicing their opinions, chatting with entertainment people, doing segments on fashion, cooking and other things of interest to women. Elisabeth applied for this show to fill the 20-something woman role, who happens to be a conservative. I'm sure if she knew she was going to be expected to be some kind of expert on politics, she would not have applied. The poor girl has been learning as she goes along.

Finally, Elisabeth is no more a political idiot than Joy. IMO, they cancel each other out, because both are so far their opposite views and both make wild statements spurred on by personal feelings than anything else. NONE of these five woman should be looked to for informed political facts, only for entertainment. And I include Barbara in this, as well. Barbara may have the journalism experience under her belt, but whether it's senility or who knows, she's forgotten most of her journalistic skills. A good journalist remains neutral and balanced in reporting news and lord knows Barbara is anything but neutral anymore.

Actually, one more thing. Since The View has become this heated forum of a bunch of crazy harpies yelling at each other over politics the past few years. Once Elisabeth is gone, this show is over. There's not going to get another young, naive "conservative" to fill Elisabeth's shoes -- no one would be that stupid to subject themselves to that kind of environment every day. Talk about undue stress. And there is no way they will allow an older and more experienced woman to come on and be the spokesperson for conservatives to actually hold their own against Barbara, Joy and Whoopi, because that would totally defeat the purpose and Babs, Joy & Whoopi will lose a lot of their argument points, i.e., "you're too young to understand" and "you haven't had enough life experience to understand" and "you haven't lived in my world."
