Not my Tranny Trish! I thought it was obvious she was going. In the "coming up in the episode" they kept showing the judges making negative comments
to Jennifer & Matt and none to Trish. This show has ANTM staff for it's editors, too obvious!
I think Matt is going to win, but I'm going to go check the site now, you can usually tell especially with last season, who the fave is. Jennifer is a great designer and an amazing host. Matt is without doubt the best designer (mostly because he has the capacity to do things that the girls can't) but his hosting skills fucking SUCK. He is so flat and boring and the judges called it INTERESTING. I don't get it, if he wins, his show will bomb. |

Swim, let us know what you see over there. I'm curious to hear who is more popular. I just can't see Matt winning, and I agree with you about him.
I think it was a win-win for HGTV to have either woman win this. They were both great. I'm really disappointed. I guess now it makes it easier for me to root for someone in the final now, because I couldn't decide which woman I wanted to win. |

Well the forum is split between Matt & Jen. They hated Trish, since she was such a witch. A lot of people hated Matt's room tonight (as did I, it was
awful). More people are enthusastic about Jen.
Jen's room tonight is the highest ranked design of the season. It's averaged a 4 out of 5, only 4 of the season. Trish and Matt are behind with a three, Trish is slightly ahead of Matt. Of the individual challenge, Jen's is first of everyone with a 3 (her Italy room). Matt has 1 out of 5  . Jen is also the highest ranked for the hosting
challenge.
Overall there isn't as many rankers as last season and a lot of the rankings are low. I say Jen is the favorite going into the finals. |

Thanks Swim. I guess will come down to the final challenge and how well they do and how they edit it. I really can't see Matt getting his own show.
Interesting they didn't like Trish over there, I figured she was the favorite all along. |

I have to admit, her room kinda sucked though. But Matt's was stupid. Those chairs were way too heavy to move around that game table, and they were too low as well. There is no way that is going to work. And the walls looked so boring and sterile. Jen's room looked nice, but I hated the idea of putting carpet down when they clearly wanted the wood floors. Didn't she say they just took up carpet to expose them? I liked everything else, I guess. Not a fan of the coffee table with the stools underneath though. Fugly. Walls were nice. Well this makes it easy for me....the finals I mean. I like Jen and Matt equally, or rather I am indifferent to each of them equally. I guess I don't care who wins and I don't have to worry about being disappointed. Trish.

I really liked Jennifer's room the best. I've liked a lot of what she did this season. I have to take into account that these designers get a very
small amount of time to design a room and can't really compare them to other (shows) designers who have much more time and more unlimited resources to get
a job done.
I thought Matt's room was dull, and you're right about the chairs. How functional is that game table without chairs that easily pull up to the table? Those big leather chairs are probably not the easiest thing to move for senior citizens everytime they want to use the table. That was a bit of a misstep on Matt's part and I'm surprised the judges didn't call him on that (that we saw anyway). |

Random Musings:
- this may be the worst batch of 'decorators' so far. Their designs are basic, boring and uninspired. Nothing fabulous, nothing out of the ordinary. Everything just looked obvious. Honestly, not one thing wowed me. Martha McCryptkeeper said 'furniture store showroom' - that's EXACTLY what every one of their rooms looked like. Design for your family? Well no shit. Is your 3am shift sister gonna hate what you did? Of course not. - Trish - best hostess and frankly, her room looked the most 'liveable'. Sure, it wasnt anything flashy, but its what her family wanted and she was the one who took the risk. Installed about 450' of laminate flooring and added some nice millwork to dress out the fireplace. Are those hard jobs? No, but it was the most drastic and ambitious change. Jennifer HIRED a couple or mopes with pornstar mustaches to lay down carpeting, versus Trish using it in her design plan. She should have received more points for that. I think her design skills are too 'obvious', but then again, so was everyone elses. - Matt - what a fucking let down this guy is. His presentation at the casting show was the shit and his cool bed design. Since then, he's sucked ass. His room? Lets put a curtain across the storage shelves. Jesus, how fucking obvious is that. The kiln? Building it into, in essence, a closet was the first thing I thought of and I'm not a designer. Adding the tv to that wall was a nice touch, but was it so out of the ordinary? Space for grandkids? Big ass chairs with no room for kids to move around? Also, it was a craft room (btw what the fuck is with middle aged white women and 'crafting'?). Where exactly was mom gonna do her crafts? She went from 2 massive worktables to a 30" round piece of shit. Howzabout a cool design of shelves mounted at around 32 inches off the ground and then a couple of long tables on casters that slide out for craft use and then stow away. Hide all that shit behind the curtains. Mr Outside of the Box hasnt done shit outside the box. The only box he's outside of is the 4'x2' closet he came out of! - Jennifer - I guess HGTV digs short fat ugly chicks. Her room was a joke. It looked exactly like what her sister had, but just with carpet and some shitty designs on the wall. Already did that in 2 of what 5 challenges? Not to mention that Candace Olsen has been doing that shit for over 5 years. Bad. If she wins, she'll host some quirky weird show in which they'll paint designs on everything that resemble sperm getting assfucked by a paisley. - The Challenges - can anyone remember any? First season, second season - design with shit from a dollar store or a pet store. This one? Here's $10K, do somethin' good. It really looks like a show that everyone has just given up on. The quality of designers, the quality of production, the creativity of the challenge. - Next Week - yes, I feel for the people of New Orleans, but does EVERY design show on earf have to do the obligatory 'help rebuild The Big Easy' show? What a fucking LAME challenge. Howzabout this - the people that are getting the makeovers on the final challenge, let their houses be redesigned by the #3 and #4 contestants and show it as a little vignette on the final episode, but let the actual final challenge be something awesome. Remember 2 seasons ago? David and Alice designing rooms in a glass box in Bryant Park? That was some shit right there. No creativity on the part of the producers. |

Temple was a rockstar. She had charisma, was diva-esque enough to ensure good TV. Sparkle was a true gem- timeless and glittery like a sweet meadow nymph
flittering in the moonlight. Jennifer will win ala Kim Myles, low impact but with enough creativity to sucker the thousands of fraus to watch.
This season totally blows ass. Nothing redeeming about it. If Noah Wylie aka Sailboat Man had been on at least that would have been some funny shit. |

While I really liked the painted leaf pattern on Jenn's walls, what drove me buggy is that her sister's family now has LESS comfortable seating than
before the makeover. Her sectional was small (seating 3-4 people, max) and while that coffee table had seats, who is gonna be comfortable on those teeny
little things for very long? Nuh uh. No one but the family cat. Vern got way too excited over that coffee table. Covering up the hardwood floors with carpet
was disappointing, but I suppose, realistically, she hadn't the time to get them sanded down and re-stained/varnished. Carpet is fine, but I love hardwood
floors and sis had just ripped up the carpet. I did really like the colors Jenn used, but hell, her sister gave her all of those.
Matt's room was, um, odd. I don't know much about kilns, but maybe someone could advise if they need more space and ventilation that just that offered by his pull out wall. If not, then no worries and it was a good idea. I know his mom said the huge craft tables could be removed, but was she expecting just a short, round table for replacement? Somehow I don't think so. And, when I think of a multi-use game table, I think of fooseball, snooker, ping pong, pool table multi-use. So, I guess he knows his family better and they're not so much the physical sort. The chairs were huge and dark and none of them offered a good view of the new flat screen in the corner. I dunno - I was just underwhelmed, I suppose. Tranny Trish - I'm bummed she got booted. While I was against covering up that brick fireplace, I have to admit that what she designed was a lovely improvement and far more in scale with the size of the room. That Pergo-type flooring was a pretty cool color/style too. I'm not a big fan of wrinkly drapes, but whatever. I dunno, I think she got screwed, because her "clients" had certain needs and it was pretty obvious that their tastes run to the traditional. It's not like she's gonna go and toss in a bunch of avante garde ideas for Mom 'n Pops, ya know? Besides, her hosting skills far far FAR exceed Matt's capabilities. Matt is still skeeving me out - I don't buy his smile and enthusiasm, it seems almost pharmaceutically driven. Scary. |

Trish - The fireplace was really nice, but the rest of the room was brown and boring. And blue curtains do not make a room colorful.
Jenn - Cute walls, but the carpet was light and will be ruined in a week in the dining room. There are kids! Matt - Weird layout and the chairs were so big and clunky. I was hoping he would pick the brown ones that were taller and would actually fit the table. At least this finale we won't have to choose between a surfer and a troll. |

I just want to say that it must be really, really hard for the designers to come up with something great with only 26 hours of worktime. That 26 hours includes their planning time and when Clive says "Your time starts NOW." I would be a messy ball of stress. I can't imagine! For most people that equates to a long weekend project, and in that time you'd expect to get maybe one thing done...like laying floors. No way in hell would I attempt to decide on floors and have them delivered and laid. And what about the fact that they get help from some bloke they've never met who may have never done what they are asking them to do before? Yikes!!! How many stores can you go to and say "I want that sofa, and that table and chairs and they need to be delivered today. Oh, and I want that hardwood and the installation needs to be finished by tomorrow afternoon. Kthxbye!" Yeah, right! Just as we saw with Matt, the designers end up settling for something they don't want. Jenn settled for carpet, too...that's another example. I gotta say.....if HGTV ever wanted to bring the Design Stars to my house to conduct a "challenge" (which is exactly what it is!) I would most definitely say "Are you crazy? No fucking way. Send your winner back next year when he or she has time to do something great." Because what you get in 26 hours...is not great. It's shit. And yes, I know last season's designers and the season's before had some contestants who maybe could pull it off, but in reality all of their challenge rooms were lacking as well. |
