I wonder if the homeowners got to keep the tile she bought for the backsplash - at least they could put it up. Mikey was cute (no interest in viewing the porn, tyvm), but boring with no personality. On HGTV's film, anyway. I like the 3 remaining allright, but I don't think there's any great talent there. And Matt's sorta creepy lately - or, at least, he is to me.

The tiles she bought were an earth-tone neutral. It was the polar opposite of what the family wanted, even if they HAD managed to put them up...

She still took forever though. And they also said HGTV wouldn't let a doctor privately remove Trish's ring, they wanted the firemen to come and create a big deal out of it.

That's the thing about these shows...often the remade rooms are not high quality, they just look good on TV for a cheap price.

That's the thing about these shows...often the remade rooms are not high quality, they just look good on TV for a cheap price. I get it. In this case, though, they went on and on about how it's for a real family. That family's going to be miserable in a couple of monthse when every seam in the flooring is buckling up...

You simply replace the damaged planks whether they be laminate or hardwood. I had hardwood floors in my kitchen in Georgia 7 years ago and it was a brand new house. In fact, EVERY house in our neighborhood had hardwood floors. I never heard anyone complain that they might get a leak. What's up with that? From BobVila.com : Laminate flooring mimics the look of traditional woods while offering easy installation and lasting durability. Hallways, foyers and family spaces, bathrooms, and kitchens are all suitable candidates for laminate flooring. Where hardwood floors are forever being protected from sand, spills, and muddy pets, laminates are made to handle the rigors of an active home. Bob says laminate is even better than hardwoods for use in the kitchen. He does, of course, concede that is is not perfect (like I said, if there's a spill...wipe it up and if you cannot then replace the damaged pieces): Maintenance and Repair Laminate floors require very little maintenance. The material handles surface moisture well, but if the core material gets wet it can expand and damage the flooring. In bathrooms and kitchens, make sure that surface water is wiped up after spills and over spray. Unlike hardwood, laminate does not require sanding and refinishing every few years. Routine cleaning with a vacuum or damp mop is all that is needed. The process for repairing damaged boards is similar to that of hardwood. I've had a laminate floor for my kitchen for the past like 7-8 years, I rarely clean it, I'm a big mess in the kitchen, and nothing has 'warped' or needed anything 'torn out'. So maybe the person complaining about laminate flooring has a cheap quality or something?

All the contestant's blogs talk about how Tracee DID bring back tile but it was the wrong kind and she had to go back out and do it again. She still took forever though. And they also said HGTV wouldn't let a doctor privately remove Trish's ring, they wanted the firemen to come and create a big deal out of it.

There are many ideal materials for kitchen floors -- from linoleum to vinyl tiles to ceramic tiles to stone (slate, travertine, etc.) that do not carry this risk. I don't understand why anybody would knowingly choose a material for a kitchen floor that carries this risk...* * of course, I also have three dogs, and the area around their water dish is a constant puddle, so it would be 100% untenable for my house. A house without dogs and with homeowners who are very vigilant about spills might be okay.

I remember a neutral Travertine type and also a blueish/greenish sea glass type that she slapped up in combination. I liked the combo, but wondered where in the hell the blue/green had come from, being as there was so much red and gold and white going on. And while we're on the backsplash, I hated that chocolate brown color they slapped on there. I've hard wood (NOT laminate) throughout the entire first floor of my house and I alternately love it and hate it.

Also, they said that the scene HGTV showed of Tracee talking to them and it looked like they were just ignoring her and kept working on stuff, it was exagerated. Trish/Bondage Cop said on their blogs that they did pay attention to her but she never took control and kept going around in circles, but that specific scene where they made it look like they were ignoring her was on HGTV's edit part.
