Speaking of dead people, the DirecTV ad with Heather O' Rourke from Poltergeist is just wrong. That bugs the shit out of me every time I see it... the child DIED long ago, for Christ's sake, and they're using her in a commercial?? It's just wrong.
Hubby said the same thing. He said if it was his daughter, he'd sue the hell out of them.
yeah well, grow up a bit because this shit doesn't occur in a vacuum...
if heather o'rourke's image appears in the commercial it was with the blessing and with substantial payment to her family.
so fuck directv for making it but also fuck the o'rourke family for accepting the money and agreeing to it...
oooh thanks for reminding me about an ad that I not only hate, but loathe. As in Fred Astaire dancing with a vaccuum cleaner loathing -- there is no way in hell that he'd have approved that spot and the trustees of his estate are carrion for allowing it.
Same issue with a certain Elvis song being used by the pharmaceutical types, but The King's estate has always been run by crazy people.
On the Heather O'Rourke ad, fine: if her parents wanted it to happen, that's their decision. Maybe they want her to be remembered, and maybe renew interest in the Poltergeist series -- neither of which are bad things.
The important point:
This in no way minimizes Craig T. Nelson's role in the remake.
Carrion asshole.
i'm just saying...
(and don't kill the messenger here...)
bullshit.
boo hoo that poor little o'rourke or fred or elvis got their graves trampled on.
someone, somewhere agreed to these commercials. specifically their families. to make some money.
so before all of you weeping bitches cry over the obscenity, ask yourself the really important question. if the dead can make some money, why are you bitches all upset that the living can make some money too?
