I was surprised they chose to share the info, period.
Good on them for keeping 'when' a total surprise... ...At least, I don't think I saw any press on this being the episode when we 'found out'. ...But actually, now that I think of it... there was that screen shot from last year that showed the 2 kids sitting and listening to future Ted with a framed picture on the shelf that was in <her> apartment... I think that made sense...

The visual spoiler with the picture from her apartment showing up in the flashbacks to the kids speeches was the EXACT first thing I thought of when this ep
ended.
Holy crap I had a frissson when Ted grabbed the yellow umbrella out of his stand. Had anyone seen it there before? Still, the hand that tapped him on the shoulder looked awfully large. I was expecting it to be maybe a guy who knew The Mother or perhaps is a goat farmer. Seeing Stella there? Yikes. They jerk us around again. My thinking is that she'd been at the St. Patrick's Day party where Ted swiped the umbrella. Maybe she wants it back for her friend? I ain't convinced about nuthin' until we see a goat. Meanwhile? Barney at 200 after 16 years of lotharioism? That's kind of low, right? Guys in NYC can rack up higher numbers than that in 5 years. Loved how Robin proofread the list to his double dismay. I wonder if Barney had put her on it? There has to be a screenshot of it online somewhere. W.hither Petra? ETA: loved the intervention for the graphs. And how it fit into the timeline. This show is almost Buffy-worthy when it comes to stuff like that.

Unless Barney's 39, that time estimation can't right since he lost his virginity at 23. Maybe Marshall counted from when Barney turned 16 or

I haven't been that surprised by a TV show in ages.
In all honesty, I wouldn't mind if Stella was the mother. But that would be too easy, so I don't think she is either. "Ted! Ted! Go to youtube and type in Robin Scherbatsky morning show vomit!......" "Jealous, jealous, hero, oddly quiet in this conversation about number of sexual partners, hero"
I enjoyed this one immensely. |

Stella's not the mother. Older Ted had already said that he had not met the mother yet, well after the Stella episodes. Stella must introduce the mother
to Ted.

Genuinely shocking ending. Nicely done. The screen shot with the pics in both is a great find.
OMG!!! Maybe Stella's kid is the mother!!!
As for the 16 years rmember that Barney used to be a hippy purist who was saving himself for his true love who then ditched him for a letch which i turn turned Barney into one. He was definitely a late bloomer. The intervention was a welcome return. We just need LIly back soon. |

She'd BETTER NOT be the mother. Here's how I see the scene (eventually?) played out. He stops to talk to Stella. THE REAL MOM walks up, but doesn't
have an umbrella, so he lends her his, giving her his business card by which she can return the umbrella (because he's with Stella and doesn't need his
at the moment). voila!!!!
Oh, and I LOVED the Cecelia chart!

(Phae -- you out there?) I hope we see more of Fran. ETA: I hope you all realize that in order to dig back to find the apartment vs. kids shot, you would've had to go back 15 pages or so yesterday. I miss August 2008 - May 2009. But if this brings us all that more close to the goddam goat, I'm good.
