What I want to know is if any one else who watches experiences lapses in sound at random times when Alex is reading the questions. It happens with no other
show I watch and it is irritating. One, sometimes two words, are inaudible. It may happen once or twice per show, and then the next show it does not.
Anyone? |

And your reply has made me feel a little bit more sane! Thanks back!
It's happened for several months now. It is so comforting to know it's not my TV set, which is fairly new. |

I love that this thread is active...
Damn, was that a close call and it kind of scared me that when Larissa was losing I was kind of freaking. She's a clear freak of nature emotionally but at the same time I kind of want to watch her robotic soft spokenness and see how far she can go so I am rooting for her all the way from now on. I also think it would be incredibly awesome if she was a raving bitch behind closed doors. :) BTW - Ruth? I could have sworn it was Rita. Hmm.. |

I just watched a really, really bad movie on HBO called The Woods, and in it was an actress named Lauren Birkell who is a dead ringer for Larissa.
I found this preview of yet another horror flick with the same actress... |

Larissa has what we know as Asperger's syndrome today. Larissa not only has a near-photographic memory, but she can "shift" her consciousness to
be in "synch" with the Jeopardy button guy. She is totally in the zone because of this, and presses the button at exactly the right hundredth of a
second.
Asperger's has its advantages! |

A lot of it has to do with the tv setting. I'm sure she's way more lose in natural situations but being conscious of the fact that millions are watching YOU, can be intimidating I imagine. |

What's up with her eyes? They're constantly flitting around. Asperger's or just plain crazy?

One of my old teachers was on there, and she's usually fun and upbeat, and when she was on there she was so akward. She said the whole thing is just so
intimdating, especially since she was such a huge fan of the show.

Asperger's is a natural development. It's not a disease. I'll let the sucksters in on it first. Asperger's the way the human race ensures its
survival under the most stressful of situation. A certain percentage of people are born with it- a very low percentage because it is rarely advantageous in
today's society (it is for Jeopardy contestants, though!. But if all hell breaks lose on earth, the Asperger folks will thrive and survive- the human race
will continue. It involves a time-shift ability that is relativistic and extra-dimensional in character...oops, sorry, not saying any more for now. I've
said too much already.
But just a warning- don't fuck with an Asperger! Worship Larissa as a Goddess. Edit- where can I see recorded episodes of Jeopardy with Larissa on them?

Vitalac, I would respectfully disagree with your diagnosis of Larissa as an Asperger. Most often Aspergers are focused on one area of interest, and having
spent time in an AS classroom consortium, I doubt an Asperger could function in the kind of environment that being in a TV studio presents.
I would say Larissa has some social interaction deficits. She certainly wouldn't be someone I'd want to party with, but her wide spectrum of knowledge pretty much precludes that she has Asperger's. I think she's more an incredibly intelligent, but totally socially awkward person. As far as being nervous during the taping - I know I totally forgot that anyone would be watching and was more focused on the game. But I tend to be a pretty competitive person. My daughter says I was shooting Larissa dirty looks, but I'm hoping nobody else caught that. I was more frustrated than anything else because she was so damn fast on the buzzer. The only time I was nervous was during the interactions with Alex, but that was more because he really is kind of creepy. |

Don't mind vitalac, he seems to think it's his job to diagnos people on tv shows. He probably can't even help himself. |

Thanks for the respect. Rare on Sucks boards.
There are all sorts of variants on the classic Asperger's. In fact, now, it's pretty much of a garbage diagnosis, like Chronic Fatigue syndrome (or depression!), but research is in its infancy. |

Larissa's in a fight tonight. Her one opponent, John, makes her look like she is Ms. Personality.

woah, I thought final jeopardy category would be "Larissa's Middle Name."
I'm still on the edge of my seat -wonder if "Lucky Socks" will take her down. |

I don't know what happened. She was up $7200 to $1000 (for each opponent) and then her competitors turned it on.
And she pulled it off again. |
