Ralphie broke my heart. What a trooper to be on the show the day after his dad died. I bet his dad made him promise to do it before he died. And those two favorite jokes of his dad ROCKED! I have great new respect for this comic.

I like to try to sleuth things down on the 'net... I haven't been able to find an obituary for Ralphie's dad yet, though. I found this snippet which mentions that he was ill, though: "In recent months, May has reconciled with his ailing father, Winston May, a poultry industry executive who lives in Roswell. For years, his dad disparaged May's profession, but that changed after the TV show. "Whatever animosity there was evaporated," the son said. My hubby actually laughed at both of Ralphie's jokes, but at first he was like oh no not the sympathy thing. He hates him. Ralphie was natural, and not trying to put on some 'hood facade. If he can let his true comic shine through he can nail it, or at least get a 9.85, as long as he doesn't land on anybody during the dismount. That would be one helluva mosh pit. I thought he was fucking with us until during the breaks, he was wiping his eyes, and at the end of the show, Vos looked genuinely concerned. I am glad he was able to reconcile with his dad. I am sure Ralphie has had to battle alot of things in his short life, so I hope he drops the silly white guy trying to be black act this time b/c it is as played as ANT's gay jokes, and just do comedy.
Now how does the elim work? I thought whoever gets the fewest votes gets knocked out, irrespective of the house. So if you sucked and you happened to be from season 2, well then you are SOL. |

My top 4 (and no, the fact that I didn't see Season 1 has no effect on this):
Alonzo - that new material about the gymnasts. Gold, Jerry...Gold! Todd Glass - thought he was on. If he were that way in his showdown with Tammy, he'd have won. John Heffron - the whole video game thing, finishing with the "good luck on the spelling bee" I thought was great. Rich Vos - OK on the whole, but the NJ vacation joke was very, very funny. Who I want off? Jessica. Go away, you scary bitch. Edited: forgot to add my $.02 about Ralphie. Unprofessional, dude. Totally unprofessional. IF his father is deceased, and we have to ask that question since this is, in theory, a reality show, and after the announcement that only 1/2 of the comics would be performing tonight, you tell the producers that you can't go tonight. If you're that distraught, you decide whether it's even worth it to compete AT ALL this season. But you DON'T play the sympathy card. For those of you who like him, I hope you're ashamed for him. For those of you who don't, just get off the stage you fat fuck. |

What dissapoints me the most it that it appears there will be no `comedy houses' this season. That was the funny part for me most time (Vos and Mordahl especially). I was a bit dissapointed in most of them tonight though - they seemed off guard. Mordahl seemed almost lost out there and WTF was up with his hair? I'm still not sure what to make of a toned down Ralphie. I absolutely hated him in the first season (no, I didn't vote for Dat out of spite - I refused to vote cause I hated them both), but really felt bad for him tonight. Props for him going through with it tonight. Very bad form of the other team to choose him to go up though.
My pick of the night has to be Alonzo. Even the ped joke was funny as hell. He really should have won before. |
