The "destiny in the hands of one man" line seems over the top to me. Michael would control their fate both ways. If his lie works, and he is setting them up, he has the power over their future. But that also applies if he is exposed as a traitor and holds the keys to where to find the Others and how to defeat them.
Anyone else think he looked locked up in that preview scene? I'm probaby putting too much faith in the Losties ability to read the clues and their willingness to be skeptical of the motives of one of their own people.
