Here is a new link that adds more mystery. It's somebody named J____ _anthem according to a close up of the story in Jack's hand. I am guessing a new character from next season.

I don't know why some people think it's Sawyer. There was a time when him and Kate were in love, and there is a possibility that they may still be in love thus the continuing three way love story. I see Sawyer as some one who is becoming likeable and he does have his good qualities. why else would he go back to help Jin, Bernard and Sayid? I think they, at the very least would owe him some respect at his funeral, if not for anything else, even if he went back to being screwed up.
I don't think it's Ben. I think he would resist being rescued because he knows he has nothing off the island. On the island he has some power of persuasion over his group, and they do follow him, even if they start to question his role as leader. Worst case scenario for him would be if some one else became leader and he was given enough pity to have some lowly job. As for Micheal, I don't think it's him either. In the end, I think some people might be able to forgive him for his betrayal. With the exception of Claire not a single one of them had a child in their life, and not a single one of them knows what it's like to fight to save their children - with the exception of Claire (and when I say that I mean at the time he escaped, not afterwards when Sun became pregnant and Kate suspects she's also pregnant). So people might forgive him. i can see Hurley forgiving him, he seems like a forgiving type, and Walt would be there too, as well as his mother - Micheal's ex-wife. So I don't think it's him either. |

Why would he say 'either'? It just doesn't make sense, maybe a response of "both" would have sufficed. No, I'm pretty sure it's "neither."

I think its Sawyer who's dead.
And Kate is back with her husband. Happily married. Not a fugitive. Which is why she doesnt want to go back. Jack is not happy in this life which is why he wants to go back and do a re-do. |

Someone posted in another thread (I think) that if it were any of the 815 survivors, the funeral would be news, like a celebrity dying. Doubtful no one would show.
I'm now leaning towards someone who's not a Lostie. |

hey guys i love all the suggestions, but out of all i think it will be Micheal or Locke.
Micheal betrayed everyone, thus no one from the island would want to go there, it looks like it was in a black community and i would say he didn't have much family/friends that truely care for him, however unless walt is dead, or something happened, he could have tried to attempt to suicide, but still if it was micheal I don't think jack would be that upset over it, he wouldn't cry for him. LOCKE! this is the guy who i think is in the coffin, When Locke got of the island, he went back in the wheelchair like everyone has said, and he doesn't want to live anymore, he is no longer happy, he has no one, no family, no friends. Everyone from the island hates him for what he has done, trying to keep them there, for the people that know he blew up the Sub, *if any i forget* Also for killing Niomi i don't think many would go to his funeral. This also brings the point of Jack who is going through hell, thinking of killing himself as well, doesn't feel the need to live and actually believes that John was right, that it was Fate that brought them there and they weren't supposed to get off. Only downside is, there are some people on the island who i do think could go to Locke's funeral, one of them Being Hugo, he is a nice guy and i think if someone on the island died, he would go to, Unless it was Ben who i also think it might be, but he might have had someone go to his funeral, his daughter unless she truly hates him. Anyways i was blown away by the episode, one of the best episodes i have ever seen, it really will have us all thinking for the next 9 months. Also does anyone know if Walt is still left back on the island or if this was just the black smoke again? |

Another reason Id be shocked if it was Sawyer. he played a large role in saving the lives of Jin, Bernard, and Sayid. Whether or not they were actually in real danger will never be known. He'd have to have done something mighty horrible for nobody to show up at his funeral after something like that.
As for Locke, he really has nobody. His dads dead. He had his girl Peg Bundy, but I forget how that turned out. Ben could be possible also because hed have nobody back at NY. |

Unfortunately Michael doesn't start with a J. Unless he changed his name, but then how would Jack know it?
If Michael ever made it back to the real world I wonder what story he told? Man, I hope they rap up his story sometime |
