I just skimmed over the posts. Sowwy. But to address a couple of posts I noticed... phantom - THANK YOU. But IMHO there wouldn't be any reason for the current debate over Jack and whether he's a dude or a dick, if it weren't for the apparent ability of what's-his-name from Party of Five to make the character complex and likeable at the same time. Without Jack the series would have tanked in about episode two. The problem is, a lot of viewers are like Sawyer. They can't handle being in the same room as someone smarter than them, so they lash out. And I ain't no fanboy, damn it, and I'll prove it: "Matthew Fox eats peanut butter and nose hair sandwiches." Jack is a complex character, so I understand why some people don't get him at all and are annoyed by him. I guess I see both sides and the good by far outweighs the bad. I can identify with him. Now if he goes all dark and nasty, I'll deny I said that. What I don't understand is people posting that he's a bad actor. To each his own, but... huh? Right now Sawyer is on my rippling puddles of diarrhea shit list, but I acknowledge that Josh is a great actor. He couldn't piss me off so much if he sucked. tigeranne - I think you nailed the Jack/Locke thing. |

What we are seeing is the old pre island Locke coming back...he needs to get back out on the island and find himself again. This brings us to the big question : does that timer need to be reset? I'm suspcious it is doing just what it was meant to do...squash exploration of the island. In the SOS episode...Locke was talking to Rose about losing his faith. I think he's going to find out he needs to put his faith in the island again...not the (false god)... the hatch. :)Peggy |

Peg - It's good to see you here so much. You're right. It would be one hell of a shock to see Jack do something WAY out of character. (though dialed in would be extremely happy with Jack for a change.. lol) I think I'd be physically ill if the writers darkened him too much. If that happens, I hope it's temporary. I'd really hate to beat my tv to death while puking at the same time. (yeah I'm gross!) |

HH...Love threads belong in clubs or LTS. Hate threads belong here, hence "Kate is a whore" is ok.
I'd change the title to "Jack's dull but we like him anyway" or some shit like that (maybe a tad more clever) or expect to see the thread get moved eventually. Don't blame me, I'm just explaining how it is. I <3 you all. |

Kitten I don't love Jack. I admire the hell out of him. Self sacrificing, (gave his blood in an effort to save Shannon's brother) puts the needs of others over himself constantly, always ready to help in any way (from comforting Rose after the crash about Bernard, to administrating to all who need his medical attention, to going out to look for Michael) He's just a stand-up guy in everyway. The kind of a friend anyone would be lucky to have. Tigeranne said it best when she wrote "I guess some people have a problem with heroes"

Why do we have to bash any character much less Jack? Can't we have a thread to appreciate the character? That's what this thread is for. It's not a gush-over-Jack thread but it is a place where people can come and discuss what Jack does on the show.
